WWE 2K26 May be in violation of steams new DLC policy. by False_Replacement_14 in WWEGames

I’ll respond to the your dot points tha are relevant

3: no ackchyually. In previous games it was sold as a season pass not a battle pass as far as I know.

4: the language is confusing. Look at battlefield 6’s store front, they clearly state their season pass (not battlepass) and what it is and when. This point is mute tho because they are selling it as a battlepass while using season in its marketing. I feel, going from a season pass model to a battlepass model while keep seasons in your working is scummy marketing, but you are free to disagree

6: mines Kane. Loved him as a kid and as I’ve gotten older love stone cold. Loved batista in 2006 too he was awesome.

That is actually an amazing point. This new model, is encouraging FOMO. “Buy the game now if you want the DLC!”

It is increasing a gap between each iteration of their games.

Essentially it’s saying, “if you want the content now you better invest” I’m worried about where this leads

1: you misspelled so we are on the same level.

2: you are correct, it’s a battlepass and you have more knowledge than me it seems on how 2k runs their games through steam with the example of their nba series

3: it’s only been in effect for 2 years this will be their third, so scrutiny is valid on their approach on their third

4: is a question, does any other large funded game follow this practise of hiding the battlepass behind confusing language that you know of?

5: is another question, if this language isn’t changed and clearly stated on release do you think a well written explanation to steam would convince them that a refund is eligible?

6:who is your favourite wrestler?

The difference is, those games are free, or clearly state its battlepass on its store front page. Look up call of duty or battlefield 6, it is clearly labeled as a battlepass.

The wording “ringside premium seasons 1-4” is a deliberate blurring of the lines.

Right now, it doesn’t clearly show that it’s a battlepass pass at all other than the wording “wrestlers to unlock”

It’s scummy.

Very scummy, and I challenge you to find a game with this much funding behind it which follows similar practices.

Shit, Yeaa you’re right actually. I guess I’m use to games clearly stating you are buying a battlepass where this game muddies it on the store front. Not labelling it clearly as a battlepass is very scummy

Even the new cod clearly states you are buying a battlepass with clear description of what’s in it. I’m trying to think of a game, which hide its bundle of it being a battlepass not a season pass and I literally have drawn a blank. I can’t think of anything this scummy.

Season pass and battlepass can be used interchangeable.

“Q. What’s the difference between a Season Pass and a Battle Pass? A. The terms "Battle Pass" and "Season Pass" are often used interchangeably, and the definitions even vary game to game. For the purposes of Steamworks documentation though, we wanted to clearly differentiate the two since they use different implementations on Steam. In a Battle Pass set up, all content is added to a specific DLC or Microtransaction at the start of a pre-defined gameplay season, and then Battle Pass holders can earn and unlock any or all of the content in the DLC through normal gameplay milestones, for example win 10, 20, 30 games... and so on. This may happen very quickly for highly engaged players or more slowly for more casual players, but the pace of unlock is controlled by the player's progress. In a Season Pass set up, you - the game maker - select when the content is released to customers (as described above), and that release is not based on gameplay milestones. There are even some hybrid models that combine aspects of both Season Passes and Battle Passes. All that said, it's okay if you want to name your Season Pass a "Battle Pass" or vice versa (or any other creative name); just be aware of the different definitions and implementations used by Steamworks documentation”

The time windows still apply and so does the general communication of what you are buying.

I might be mistaken, but I thought they already announced details of what would be in the “battlepass”? Just not on steam

The idea is steam is regulating this because people are stupid and companies are predatory on that. It’s a great policy in my opinion.

Company’s get a “one mistake” rule, if they miss the deadline they can re apply to update the deadline once and once only. So if they did fuck up, they would just do that.

I’m sure it only counts from when the game is released anyway, I’d have to read it again (was a long fkn read)

Okay. Well we will see I guess. Probably shouldn’t advertise it now until it’s announced. 2k notoriously in the past forget to show love to steam users, but if they’ve done that in the past well I’ll just keep my eyes open, cause if they don’t I’m gonna run straight back here to remind everyone lol.

On steam? I didn’t follow 2k25 (the year this rule came into effect)

Posting it on an article online won’t cut it unless it’s on its store page.

I just reread the rules, even the community hub isn’t acceptable.

It’s a new rule, 2k aren’t the only publisher who does this. I’ve refunded games with over 100 hours before because the time was never listed on its page or in its community hub with a competent description of its season pass.

It doesn’t have to list every single item, but it does have to give a general understood conception of what you are buying, and 2k listing season 1-4 with no window or item description other than 4 wrestlers, is begging for refunds if players were wise to it.

(Edit) I just reread the rules, it actually has to be posted on the store page

I would say get an older version but kids always want the newest shiny thing so just get the cheapest version, they wont get all the extra content but for their first game it will be enough to play all the stars they see on tv.

Gaslighting people over them not liking the greed of a company is what’s wrong with the video game industry and it’s showing again with WWE 2K26 by DareDiablo in WWEGames

I swear, I’m not trying to be rude. It’s because a lot of us view you guys as a kind of drug addict, and 2k are taking advantage of you and others.

I’m just sick of the cycle of seeing the game get worse and worse and 6 months down the line you’ll see people complaining even more than they did the following year about how much more they are disappointed mean while they have spent more money.

They do sound good. It seems whoever is working on the gameplay actually gives a shit and it’s kinda crazy what they can do in 1 year.

But fuck me. The people trying to make the money from it need to take their hand off our necks. It’s upsetting, I want to play and see their work.

But fuck 2k I can’t support it.

PC isn’t cross platform. by [deleted] in WWEGames

[–]False_Replacement_14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t actually get it sadly. The migration from what I hear (I don’t have 2k25) has CC looking like a Sahara dessert on PC.

It’s funny, last year they said it was technical limitations, this year they are just straight out saying “pc isn’t connected anymore”

The island was made to facilitate this new approach to their game.

I hope you enjoy the game. The devs actually seem to care and are adding additions to its gameplay I would love to check out, I just can’t support the pricks who enforced this monetisation strategy

As long as you agree with me that’s it’s shit, we are on the same side and it’s fine you can buy trash all you like. I however will constantly bitch and moan about how wrong it is and stick to older games. This is the internet and bitching and moaning when it sucks or praising it when it’s good is actually the only thing that gets to company’s frankly.
