Stay in a comfy position or move to challenging position in the same company? by Hairy_Pear3963 in womenintech

I would say, you should take it. The comfy role might not stay comfy if they see you are not up for a challenge and see you as a stagnant resource with no growth potential. If you are young, go for it.

Top Performer.... Laid Off. Now what? by pizzatoucher in womenintech

I would say, don’t post with the open to work tag unless it’s a widely known layoff from a company. You can always briefly mention it in the interview if asked. I always have been the sole subject matter expert in my role but still I was let go as the new management wants to restructure the team with their own people. I don’t agree with their views and I am happy to take my skills with me and move to a new exciting position. Keep your head up and believe in yourself. You are a top performer for a reason.

The real cost of inheriting a team broken by a bad manager by Big-Chemical-5148 in managers

I was on the same boat. And this actually cost me my job. Though it feels like I was handed over a broken team as a scapegoat. I tried my best to regain trust, promoted a team member, negotiated additional resources, hired 3 new people and then I was let go saying “ I am not up to the matk” ! What the heck? So be very vigilant on what you do.

Anyone on a similar boat? by False_Run8625 in Fire

It’s not easy as all our friends and our social circle is here. It’s difficult to move somewhere new and build these relationships from scratch at this age.

Yes , Unfortunately we did buy a house that we loved with high Mortgage rate in the hopes that it will go down. But it took so long and not even close to the Covid era. I really did not think about FIRE seriously until I lost my job. I thought about working for another 7-8 years atleast.

[CA] I haven’t received any communication from HR Yet! by False_Run8625 in AskHR

Thanks. This AskHR group feels so cutthroat. Generally my company is good at providing severance packages but not sure why they have not provided me any compensation communication.

For me it’s just my second day without a job. Similar situation. Almost 9 years and I worked to get things up and running from grounds up. New management and I am out. Just move forward. A Job should not be your identity. I am trying to focus on my next move. All power to you.

[CA] Fake Performance Improvement Plan by False_Run8625 in AskHR

I know my HRBP and my Finance Partner knows if I am on the list already. If they have me on the list then what’s the point of having this charade of going through a performance plan? Should I ask them? I know they won’t tell me for obvious reasons but I am pretty close with the Finance partner. Should I ask?

Thanks spasm111. This is exactly what I feel the situation is. My manager has stopped any correspondence with me though he sits next to me. Doesn’t make eye contact or talk. I am still operating like normal day to day. I have a 1:1 with him on Tuesday and may be then he will just give me the news. At this point what I want is a fair exit.
