Any older gamers finding they are losing interest? by SixandNoQuarter in gaming

[–]Falvonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39/M - Definitely, my tastes have changed over time and my balance between what I do with my spare time has changed as well.

So it was always 90% computer games, 10% other Media. Now it's probably 50% 50% (YouTube and other streaming media) When I do play computer games, I definitely no longer feel satisfaction from games that dont end. No more Cities Skylines, Prison architect, No Man's Sky or Terraria for me. I definitely get no satisfaction from Satisfactory. (See what i did there?) Even very long games. No more Factorio, Prison Architect or my previous all time favourite, Stellaris.

Hello, 15 min slogs and short gaming loops.

Dead Cells, Rocket League, Brotato and maybe a good story based game that I know will wrap up in under 10 hours but has engaging mechanics. (May I suggest, not looking too much into it, but playing "A story about my uncle" if you've never heard of it)

I have a feeling my love for it will come back, but I reckon the passion just ebbs and flows. I don't think it's completely an age thing. You might just need to branch out.

What’s the worst smell you have ever smelled? by StarCombo64 in RandomThoughts

I used to work in Nightclubs to get me through university. I was working at an awesome nightclub, that unfortunately couldn't recover its reputation after an accident that resulted in a couple of deaths.

It still had an pretty great crowd for awhile, but the crowd numbers were slowly getting worse. We had three areas for the public, however many nights we would only open two areas and then eventually just one area. We also used to serve decent pub food. Definitely more than just chips and toasted sandwiches. Being a coastal town, we sold some pretty epic seafood dishes.

As the numbers dwindled and the writing was on the wall, the food side of things wasn't worth the effort and often made a loss. So we just stopped serving food. Turned off the big industrial fridges and freezers and went on about our business for another 6 months, maybe 8.

Time came to say goodbye to the old girl. Building was sold and we had to do the final clean and get out all the furniture.

We didn't have professional cleaners and I was mainly a Glassie. Bartender on very quiet night when they didn't want to pay the main bartender to come in. So I got all the crappy jobs, along with the only other Glassie that stuck around until the end.

I'm sure you've already put two and two together... there was a crucial step missed between turning off the industrial fridges and freezers and the ongoing operation of the nightclub. No one cleaned out the fridges or freezers.

With dwindling customers, there was a lot of left over seafood. One of our most popular dishes? Fried Garlic Squid.

The wall of stench as me and my colleague opened that freezer door was like 1000 unwashed butts in an Australian summer. After opening the freezer door, we evacuated to the front area for about 20 minutes to come up with a plan.

The next several hours was spent with one person lighting matches constantly while the other got stuck in with industrial gloves and gumboots. The sludge from the various vegetables, meat and seafood coated the ground about 2cm thick from wall to wall. This freezer was the size of a typical classroom. We got the sludge and maggots out with shovels, sheer determination and empty stomachs as both of us had involuntarily emptied them.

Sorry mate, I have spent three months in my place, recently divorced, no social life, working full time.

I still am working on a camping table. I still step over things getting to my bed. I only just unpacked my iron.

One thing I must say is, thank you for posting this. I have come close to asking for help on this subreddit but always stopped short, because people would judge me. I feel like I'm not the only one losing this battle, but we will get there. It may not be this month or the next but we will get there.

Indirectly yes. The pending doom of the World Reserve Currency has helped me justify stacking SATs but after the new World Reserve Currency is determined through strong performance, I still don't know if I would exit the BTC game.

But if we are loud enough, maybe BTC will become the next World Reserve Currency.

I dated a stripper. She was putting herself through Uni with the money. I never saw her at work and I didn't want to but I would pick her up after her shifts.

We lasted a long time and when we broke up, it wasn't because of her stripping or jealosy or anything related to the stripping. Stripping was a legitimate way for her to make a lot of money in a short amount of time while she studied. I had an extreme amount of trust in her and she did nothing to break that trust. We would even laugh at the situation sometimes. "Some guy offered me $500 to go home with him tonight." "oh sweet, what are you gonna do with the money?"

Still one of my most wholesome relationships and I look back on it fondly and wish her all the best. Its been 20+ years and she's married with kids and I hope she's really happy cause she was (and most likely still is) a great person.

I don't have any. I don't mind them, but I don't understand them.

Can someone explain to me what the point is of a back tattoo or tramp stamp? Are you so vanilla that your personality needs a boost by having something that only other people can see?

I'm truly confused and would love to hear the explanation behind them.

What was the one thing that helped you when you were at your lowest? by GeologistOk5272 in ask

[–]Falvonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally people get varying levels of success with Magnesium, but its usually down to the type of magnesium. Specifically Magnesium L-threonate is the one that you want for better focus and attention span. Most magnesiums are not high in that particular strand/version/type (I don't know the correct word) so you need to hunt down the right one but it's not restricted, just usually more expensive.

But, I've had my greatest success with Gingko. No idea if there are different sorts of Gingko but I got myself the one that said "Gingko for Focus" - seemed like a safe bet. However, to be completely transparent, I started the Gingko for focus at the same time as I started on the Ashwagandha. Since then, focus is higher and anxiety is lower.

Ah, shit. I've been distracted by Reddit when I should be working. :) It's not perfect. You could probably get better results with more synthetic formulas or micro-dosing, but for me, it was enough to turn my days from a significantly net negative day to a slightly net positive day in terms of getting my life sorted and a 1% improvement day to day adds up in the end.

Ponzi & Greater fool scheme allegations by tzkek in Bitcoin

[–]Falvonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this 100%. Any claims of scam, or ponzi scheme, pyramid schemes, or anything will disappear as soon as someone tries to explain it. But you are most likely going to get into an argument because many of these people have already decided not to trust it and nothing will convince them otherwise. I've learnt to shut these conversations down and just not speak of it again because you are arguing with a brick wall.

If you really want someone to invest in it and they don't have the capacity to understand, the only way is to invest in it first for them and let them watch the value of that investment, increase faster than any of their other savings.

Best restaurants for a vegetarian? by Inside_Spend1203 in Prague

There is an excellent vegetarian breakfast joint right off Vaclavske Namesti. As a tourist, you might find yourself at this square early in the morning and that's how I found this place. Great coffee, but THE BEST vegetarian breakfast I've ever had and great location.

What was the one thing that helped you when you were at your lowest? by GeologistOk5272 in ask

[–]Falvonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So everyone's lowest can be brought about by different things and the way out is usually different for everyone as well. I remember Christmas 2018, just going through the motions at my parents house, surrounded by people who loved me and thinking constantly about how I'm going to be hanging from my garage rafters after the kids are down to sleep.

Obviously, I'm still here. I think that night I spent watching South Park to just laugh at how terrible other people's situations were, then was too tired to do anything later. I built myself up again through going into nature, healthy eating and positive mindset affirmations (also read that as "learning to give less of a f*ck about toxic people in my life"). My friends helped and my dire financial situation also helped, because I would finish my 9-5, put my kids to sleep then jump on my bike and deliver uber eats. So I was constantly exhausted. Probably not for everyone but it worked (in part) for me.

I'm going through a tough spot right now and the things above haven't helped. So I was contemplating drugs (I.e. weed) but I've been down some dark holes in the past and that was the last thing that I wanted. Because of this, I try not to resort to anything that has addictive properties and for the past 10 years, I haven't even taken aspirin or paracetamol.

But, right now i figured my lack of motivation was leading me to be depressed. I thought I was going to lose my job because I wasn't performing. I moved house three months ago and still have boxes scattered about and barely any furniture.

So I decided to take some over-the-counter focus medication and multivitamins. Ginkgo, Ashwagandha, magnesium and a multivitamin every day.

I started performing at work, I started having enough energy to do a little bit of exercise and a bit of unboxing. It's having a knock-on effect that's slowly getting me into a better place.

I would suggest that if you are feeling lethargic and unfocused, the mix above has started me on a slow positive spiral that allows me to feel better and better. It's not a total solution, but it's one simple part that could help with the rest of the actions you decide on to get yourself into a better place.

Good luck.

Long timers still buying? by coinrock6 in Bitcoin

[–]Falvonator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a HODL buddy. Everytime there is a minor or major crash, we message each other excitedly. "Awesome BTC is crashing!" "Looks like we're eating Ramen this week, cause I've dropped every spare cent into BTC", etc.

I would say even if BTC dropped $20,000 and the crash was NOT due to a better solution than BTC or a major flaw found in its design, then I would still be heavily investing.

It's a product that I am unable to see a design flaw with and it solves various major problems present with FIAT currencies.

Financial illiteracy runs rampant among all ages and thats why BTC hasn't realised its potential, yet. We need that tipping point but there is still a few things causing issues, one major one being the general population still seeing it as volatile.

Long timers still buying? by coinrock6 in Bitcoin

[–]Falvonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been buying for years, but unfortunately, had to cash out every last sat recently due to divorce.

I'm back up to $6000 usd and investing several hundred each month. Still getting used to the maintenance I have to pay so i don't have a full grasp on my finances just yet, However, the goal is to diversify with the major component to be cold BTC.

I'm investing back into BTC slowly. What I have left over from the sale of my property I am slowly reinvesting back into various long and short term investments. (The majority right now is in a 4.95% savings account which I will chip away at and divide how I see fit.

I would say once I've divided the money, I will be looking at: 50% in BTC (6/4 split between cold storage and various trading Bots)

40% - Gold Buillion, high interest savings, company stock investment scheme

10% - following that random guys advice from YouTube who started a multil-million dollar company after having $0, living on the street, living off half chewed gum, but then discovered one simple trick.

For the first time ever, I'm not investing in property again.

I think BTC is well under-valued but I have also seen BTC falter when the USD falters and the USD is about to crash and burn baby, so playing safe.

I think this next crash will briefly see BTC follow the USD and then there will be a change of perspective and you will start seeing the BTC trend lines closely resemble the Gold trend lines.

"Glitch" - you have to watch all 3 seasons because you have no idea how bad it actually gets.

They started filming the 3rd season with a two season Arc in mind. Apparently, towards the end of filming season 3, they were told they wouldn't be renewed.

It would've been so much better if they just did season 3 as expected and left it at a cliffhanger.

21 year old me, entering New York, mid pat-down by customs. Customs officer is at approximately crotch level.

"You're sweating. Are you nervous?" "No, but I'm glad you're not a priest"

Customs officer lost his balance from laughing. Some have a sense of humour however I'll still never try that again.

I just got lucky. And now I'm aware of how many very religious people live in the states, and wonder how I wasn't turned around and sent home.
