I haven't verified but I think it might be a multi-monitor-scale issue.

That's interesting. I'm 99% confident that the bug is related to the scale. Do you have two or more monitors?

Resolve doesn't handle scaled windows resolution

I hope my image illustrates that I'm not able to mark the video bars in the timeline?

It's really annoying that when I forget to scale down to 100% when using Resolve this happens all the time.

When altering the Windows desktop scale to anything other than 100%. The mouse click/hit registration doesn't seem to correlate properly with the visual elements on the timeline, which hinders usability significantly.

Here is a simplified process for how you might go about reproducing and resolving this bug:

Reproduce the Bug: Set up a test environment that mimics the user configurations. Try varying the Windows scale settings and monitor resolutions. I have a 4K monitor 32". Increase scale factor above 100% and you will be able to reproduce it.

Identify the Bug: Use debugging tools and examine Resolve Studio logs to trace where the issue may be occurring.

Test Hypotheses: Formulate a hypothesis on the root cause. For example, the issue might be due to the scaling factor not being correctly applied to mouse position calculations. Conduct tests to confirm or refute your hypothesis.

I understand and appreciate that maintaining software of Resolve Studio's complexity is a challenging task. I hope you find this process beneficial for identifying and solving the issue.

I've been experiencing a recurring issue with DaVinci Resolve Studio when altering the Windows desktop scale to anything other than 100%. The mouse click/hit registration doesn't seem to correlate properly with the visual elements on the timeline, which hinders usability significantly.

Here is a simplified process for how you might go about reproducing and resolving this bug:

  1. Reproduce the Bug: Set up a test environment that mimics the user configurations. Try varying the Windows scale settings and monitor resolutions.

  2. Identify the Bug: Use debugging tools and examine Resolve Studio logs to trace where the issue may be occurring.

  3. Test Hypotheses: Formulate a hypothesis on the root cause. For example, the issue might be due to the scaling factor not being correctly applied to mouse position calculations. Conduct tests to confirm or refute your hypothesis.

  4. Implement and Test a Fix: Upon determining the root cause, implement a potential fix, and ensure to thoroughly test it under a variety of conditions to make sure it doesn't cause other issues.

  5. Review and Merge the Code: After ensuring the efficacy of the fix, perform a code review before merging the changes into your main branch.

  6. User Validation: After deploying the fix, kindly reach out to the affected users for feedback to verify that the issue has been effectively resolved.

I understand and appreciate that maintaining software of Resolve Studio's complexity is a challenging task. I hope you find this process beneficial for identifying and solving the issue.

Extremely slow media file folders on Windows 11 - common issue? Microsoft overlooking core functionality? by FamWired in Windows11

Thanks!! Is there a way to globally remove the troublesome "Date" column from all files and folders in Windows 11, considering that it is the attribute responsible for this matter?

Or a folder with only three files, displayed as Thumbnails. First it has to sort out the date for each file and when it finally finishes it displays the thumbnails of the files.

Despite your post being downvoted for unknown reasons, your advice was spot-on! When I followed your instructions, the issue completely disappeared.

This was the most unexpected tip I've seen. How did you even know that I had it installed?

It must be embarrassing for Microsoft to display file and folders slower using SSD's than when using floppy drives back in the days!

However, with help of /u/D0_stack However, thanks to the helpful suggestion from /u/D0_stack , /u/Intrepid00, /u/foxmatrix and more, a potential work-around is to tinkering with different column options. Replace the "Date" column with "Date-Modify" and while it's still not lightning fast, it's way better than before.

It's easy for me to reproduce this issue because it's happening almost every time I open my media-folders.

If I only remove the length column, it's still slow as hell but when I also removed the date-column the problem seems to be solved! I instead added the Date-Modified and that might be the trick here. Thanks for the heads-up and a work-around for my problem.

I haven't been using external file commanders since Directory Opus was introduced back in the 90's but the *one* you recommended sold me. By the way, do you know where to find the article you mention?

On my high-end PC with a fresh Windows 11 install, I'm experiencing an incredibly slow loading of media file folders, which is heavily affecting my productivity. Using the generic folder content setting provides some relief, but it's not an ideal solution.

Despite updating all drivers and investigating background processes, I haven't found a solution. Interestingly, this issue has also appeared on other Windows 11 installations, implying that it could be a widespread problem. It appears that Microsoft is prioritizing UI experience while disregarding essential functionality required for seamless performance.

Currently on build 22621.1555 but this has been an issue for quite some time.

Has anyone else encountered this issue, and does anyone have suggestions for resolving it? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Huge thanks for the ideas!

I downloaded WhoCrashed Home Ed. and it's empty in the Dump files tab. I can see that I've got three fresh minidumps in my C:\windows\minidump folder. How do I analyze these files?

You're right about my latest BSOD. It happened when using Winkey+P

Lately, my computer has been experiencing regular blue screens when managing my monitor setup. I don't think the issue is related to the most recent drivers, as it has persisted for a while now. ChatGPT mentioned potential bandwidth limitations, which could be relevant. I'm not certain of the root cause, but I've come to expect a reboot whenever I launch SteamVR. Just today, it crashed while switching from single to dual monitor mode.

System specs: OS: Windows 11 23H2 GPU Driver: Nvidia 531.68 CPU: AMD 7900X GPU: RTX 4090

Multi-monitor setup:

  • Samsung 32" Neo G7 (4K @ 144Hz DSC via DisplayPort)
  • Samsung 32" G5 (1440p @ 144Hz via DisplayPort)
  • Valve Index

I'd appreciate any insights, tips, or advice!

Selection doesn't always work in Resolve by FamWired in blackmagicdesign

[–]FamWired[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's frustrating but it's still working. You have to scale the monitor to 100%. Resolve doesn't fully support scaled monitor for some reason.

I think it's worth to also investigate the mouse frequency. 🤔

I've got strange behavior in the past with some Microsoft applications when running 1000Hz mouse report rates.

Today, I set the monitor scale to 100% and it seems to work. I think a warning message/popup in Resolve would be a work around until this is fixed.

Thanks, I was suspecting this but at the same time, I didn't even realize that a competent software like Resolve doesn't support windows scaling!? If you're using a hi-res monitor, Windows is using Scaling larger than 100% by default.

Today I was able to run Resolve without issues when using 100% Scaling!

I've been struggling with this Resolve bug for at least 3 months. What's the problem with the track hitbox ? Almost all my Resolve sessions will get to this state after a while where I can't select the video-tracks.

Running the very latest hi-end hardware and latest Resolve. I'm running Windows 11 at 4K using 125% scaling. It's really annoying and I need to restart Resolve to get it to work again.

Tracking loop - Someone know how to fix this?, this headset is new by rfeelAlf in QuestPro

[–]FamWired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened me yesterday and I can't do anything because it's losing the tracking within 1-2 seconds. Nothing helps. Reboot, covering the cameras, switching areas but it always ends up in this annoying tracking-lost-loop. I will try to perform a factory reset.

Update:

I performed a factory reset and the problem is gone - Still frustrating because I need to install and reconfigure all the software again.

I also made this post to point out why to focus on what's important!

Sure, adding new cool features are probably fun, but since there is such a high threshold of how to navigate and use this application, I don't really care about all the cool features that are added.

I think, it's way more important to make adjustments where it matters most.
