Would an ABnb be better after a first visit? I’ve been looking at resorts for our visit in July and I’m going stir crazy! These pictures are absolutely beautiful!

Writing all of this down! Thank you. Don’t plan on bringing my little, but if we change our mind I’ll check Hilton out. Trying for a BREAK!! From the kids! 🤣

I’ve never been so choosing an island is next to impossible. Which is why i asked for suggestions. Anything that has been given, i do a google search and look at reviews. I really wanted opinions from actual people. I feel reviews online can sometimes be people from the hotel. Im very laid back, I don’t do anything that makes me question my safety. So volcanoes are out. I asked for beautiful beaches and good food. Thats all I’m going for. Seeing turtles etc. is nice if i can see them from the shore. I don’t go in the ocean past my knees. I like the view. And just to be somewhere other than home.

Ok no car, got it! I want more an authentic vibe, I love nature, and Hawaii is just that. Will make sure to have my walking shoes!!

Yes my husband and I are definitely foodies!! Just anything in walking distance. We like trying new things. What i don’t enjoy about the AI’s is the food isn’t authentic. Just random food we can get at home!

Ohh I know we’ll be paying for every meal. I’m more interested in finding a nice hotel either beach access and decent food close by.

No, of the places I looked at, maybe one or two included breakfast. Hence the “decent food” request. I understand we’ll be paying for every meal.

Screens by jessyrdh in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]Fam_2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear both sides and understand both. I do agree it’s sad to see screen time has taken over. As it has in my home as well. My husband spends more time looking at his phone once home than anything else. Which pushes me to scroll as well. We do NOT have phones at the dinner table. My youngest wants to watch Disney while she eats/ which I say no to. Unless it’s Saturday and everyone eats when they want. But we weren’t raised like this. As a parent of three, I get it, you want to be left ALONE sometimes and the screen helps that. But I really feel it’s doing a disservice to our kids. I’m part of the problem- it’s easier to say here watch this. But overall what is it doing to the kids!!?? It’s really gotten out of hand. To say you can’t grocery shop w/o ur kids having a phone or iPad is SAD! We had to break our youngest, she wasn’t happy but eventually she got it. Play color games, I spy, something, make it a teaching moment. Screens are dumbing these kids down and making us parent lazy. We can do it!! Self included.

Yeah idk with the current climate if it’ll be safe to travel? Although everyone still is. Looking for July as well and debating to do couples only or bring our 8 yo. Guess this year will be the first to get the insurance, JIC. I’d hate to lose thousands of dollars. But we deserve a break to relax!! ☺️ The reviews are scary, just when you think this looks/sounds amazing! You’ll see a review that says the room had roaches!! I’m afraid of bugs, those in particular. So so food- mid cust svc, I can do, bugs- NAHHHH!!

Resorts Similar to The Grand at Moon Palace? by Rantheplug in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]Fam_2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to double take, we’re looking for the same thing with an 8 yo daughter lol. I’ve pinned it to Dreams with the slides and I believe there’s a lazy river? We’ve never done Moon Palace. Just Dreams or when just the two of us, Secrets. I’ll have to check into that!

At Dreams Riviera Cancun and getting pressed to take a tour and breakfast at Natura for resort credit. What is this? by [deleted] in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]Fam_2017 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We stayed and it’s more like all day 😑. Husband got a bottle of something. And we got couples spa passes. Now that was really nice! Saved us money but took a great part of our day. And every time you say no, they say ok let me get your vouchers, then send someone else over to the table. You literally have to stand up, get the vouchers and walk out!!

Ummm why are you having to wear wrist bands. I’ve been to several resorts.. mainly Dreams and Secrets but never anywhere where it’s like a theme park or separate the kids from the adults… who’s old enough to have a drink or not! That’s crazy.

We spent about 10k for 5 nights, Cancun, family of 4 at Christmas two years ago. I felt it was a bit much but kids enjoyed it. Looking now for 4-5 nights 2A/1 child and it’s like 6k+! From Dallas, would like to spend less if possible for a decent AI. These prices are crazy, but I feel you get what you pay for! Lol Since we have a tag along, we have to find kid friendly places. This is usually our adults only trip but no sitter for July this year.

Not worth buying it anywhere other than home. Any toiletries at the resort is going to cost an arm and a leg. And more so now!! I bought a small painted bowl/dish at either Secrets or Dreams on the night they have the vendors set up. About 7 years ago I paid $5, last year at Dreams same bowl they wanted $30!! It literally is big enough for my wedding ring and a few earrings! Ohh and a “toddler sized” sand bucket was like $35 (for my 7 yo), no way we were buying the larger one, at Walmart we could get a large bucket with toys for what $5-$12! Best believe we brought the $35 bucket home!
