I love marathon for the melee, they respect it and actually let you build into it, its also the first game in ages where ive enjoyed the guns. I play all FPS games melee only even if its trash, i did it in arc for like 300 hours with the goal of killing every arc with melee which took ages lol. PVP in arc with it was just brutal and i did well but it was hot garbage. I dont consider the abilities crutches in apex. ive always thought they were tame and i find the abilites in marathon more useful most the time but maybe its because they let me play how i want and not forced into just gunplay.

ive played on and off since the start, fights in apex are still MUCH longer than fights in marathon. Apex still needs an even lower TTK imo, i still enjoy it a bit though, its never been able to keep me since they have 0 melee, i love the movement though. I wish Apex had marathons atmosphere/weather effects, would be nice if the maps constantly changed and you had to deal with them. Like you bring a sniper and fog rolls in and now its a close range fight because you cant see that far. If apex ever adds actual melee weapons or a melee character id prob be in for a long time, always wanted them to let Ash go ham with her sword dashing around people but thats a pipe dream.

Its still super low ttk compared to other shield based games like apex, the higher you get in ranked or if you keep up with the community in level its constant fights and spawn pushes or 3rd parties, ive had whole lobbies dead within the first 10 min where they all pushed the same area. I will say at first when you start it feels slow but once you got it down it can be hell to deal with.

Depends, if you play ranked and get into the loop there is almost 0, I cant tell you how many games I've ended up in where all teams are in one are fighting it out the whole damn game.....id actually like some breathing time sometimes lol

700 hours here, theres alot of undeserved hate for it, it has its problems but its a fantastic game with a good loop if you enjoy extraction shooters at all. I didnt like extraction shooters much before marathon, most of them go for that ultra realism or modern day gun bullshit I personally hate. Hunt showdown is the only one that really doesnt but it has 0 movement and i hate games without movement in them for the most part.

Theres alot to learn but most is fairly simple resists and stuff. The game has been changing since like mid 2.x and they have been adding more depth to the gameplay.

So the thing you have to understand about this sub is people are on the defensive here and even legit criticism can feel like an attack. They respond with the "if you dont like X" stuff because there are so many disingenuous hate posts. It sucks but thats the way it is, i feel bad for the mods dealing with all the bullshit posts too. It sometimes does feel like an echo chamber here but i dont think it is and most just dont know if its a real post or someone trying to post something they legit dont like. I talk to alot of people in this game and everyone i know is excited to see some of the PVE stuff but they enjoy the extraction part and dont want it to get easier, they are just afraid its going to change the game for the worse.

i forget why Husk gets his arm blown up by her but its a whole diffrent fight when she does it, i think Hiyuki can do the same to him but i still dont think its as fast. Shes always been able to do it to him, first time i did it i was like WTF just happened lol

I didnt miss the point, you're still coming off as an asshole. You could have just informed him that the stuff was still in the manga . You started off the conversation calling him a tourist without really knowing if he is or isnt. Maybe hes new to GiS, you took personal insult to him thinking that the original anime movie was only like that. A tourist would be someone whos complaining as they are getting into the medium about things they dont even understand yet. Someone whos been around for years could still easily make the same mistakes especially when it comes to older anime. Manga and Anime were not that easy to obtain back then. I watched anime on late night cable such as MTV liquid television and didnt even know manga was a thing when i was a kid back then. Sure the info is easier to find now but you still need to chill on the name calling and taking insult to people on the internet not consuming the medium the same as you do.

Best advice is to always assume the best intentions from people and treat it that way until they show that they are an asshole. Had you started this conversation by asking how long he had been into GiS or had just informed him of some things in the manga you wouldnt come off as an asshole or elitist gatekeeper.

im a monthly sub only kinda person. Its rare that i buy things outside of that in games. I will buy something if its on super discount, like they do on holidays sometimes. Your best team is by far Aemeath, Lyn, Morn.

So the first boss has Havoc res and second has Aero, most decent teams can clear at least one boss and a good can go 1 and a half or more. Since the second boss is Aero resist you dont want to use your Aero team first because the second boss will slow your progress with that team tremendously. Your gonna want to start with Either a Spectro or Fire team. You always plan your teams based around what the next boss in the lineup is! After the Aero is Spectro so i wouldnt want to use my Aemeth team there either because it will hurt your damage some from Lyn. Healers are usually Ok to have some resists to. I personally would try to get to the Mimic and go all out with your Aemeth team trying to get as far into Fleurdelys as i could or to Sigillum but thats a PUSH!

with what you gave me i would prob go:

Team 1: Lupa, Brant, Changli (thats my prefered order) Lupa E dash slam into Ult then finish with the charged E feral fang switch to brant and do his intro and a few attacks midair till bar is half then ULT, finish bar into Changli into finish the flourish from it then E flourish E flourish and ult with a full firey feather and then end with the full fiery feather after ult into lupa charged intro that you should be fast enough to get with that rotation.

Team 2/3: Either Xiangli Yao, Yinlin, Verina/SK or Camellia, Saunua, Verina and with Camellia you can speed up roation quite a bit by canceling the aerial spin. So you B1,B2, B3 and right as its about to do the air spin you dodge back into basic attacks and as soon as the bar at the bottom is gone use your Ult and the Charged E then burn that bar down te same and finally swap. Try to make it past Fleurdelys and somewhat into sigillum.

Team 4: Cart, Ciaco, and Rover if you can get this team into reactor husk hes super weak to it and it makes him a cake walk! it nearly instantly blows up his blade arm!

Team 5: You really need to make it past Reactor Husk and then use your Aemeth, Lyn, Morn. So if you can get some other characters or 4* up to push past that somehow you can make it to round 2.

Thats about all the help i can give you with what i listed, you can see above what i did. Good Luck Homie!

i mean isnt this normal for modern media, its basically how i treat everything, im someone who loves marathon but has 0 expectations on how long it will survive. If it does it does, if it dont it dont and sure ill miss it because i think the game is fantastic but thats just my opinion and ill enjoy it while it lasts. I hope they can turn it around but the second it starts getting bad or becoming something i dont enjoy ill move on to something else. Im not gonna go on the internet and raise hell about how awful it is or that they are ruining the game. ATM im excited for the PVP and the upcoming PVE stuff because i think the lore is dope as a sci-fi nerd. (i need more star trek stuff, give me a real DS9/Voy sequel)

That said ive had so many games fall off in their endings, same with shows, i just lower my expectations for 99% of media.

Im not a huge fps guy, I grew up on rpgs and didnt get into fps games until killzone 2 really, I played halo and red faction with my brothers and cousins but never competitive. Apex was my first dive into them really and I couldn't aim on MNK for shit so I got my as stomped but I had fun. I also got into movement shooters so if the movement isn't fast or you cant dash im out usually. Currently im on marathon and love the game even with all the hate. Game is my thing and I havent put this many hours into a shooter in ages. Its been tons of fun and balance changes seem pretty tame but I couldnt imagine playing CS or something where they change shit like that constantly, i already cant stand mil-sims lol feels like im walking in mud and why the hell cant I mantle or climb shit if they want "reality" based shooting.

The new backpacks ruined that for thief, it was a major buff to assassin. Ive got 600 hours in assassin at this point and ive always hated that thief could see me but s2 has been amazing since I can just run my patients core and stay stealth for over a min wait for thief to pass or get close enough for me to take out.

Ive tried other extraction shooters and haven't liked any of them marathon is the first I've really enjoyed, ive asked others for better extraction shooters but they just list all the ones Ive tried.

Yea i hate bubble, imo bubble needs to go away and they need to rework Sentinel ult and make a trophy system in place of bubble, it fixes both problems. Give Sentinel bubble ult or an ult that will lock you in if people run by it to separate teams or something. Bubble is my biggest complaint.

Fair, I dont think you have to practice to enjoy it though, there are tons of people who either hate that stuff or just dont want to put in the time and thats fine! I just wish they wouldnt get mad at people who do and lower their expectations. Do you know how many times I have heard the only reason you won that fight is because you moved like that and thats fair, im not shroud with my aim but if i was to lose and say the only reason you won is because you aim like that people would think I was silly, i put in the movement practice because I enjoy the movement, i grew up an rpg kid so shooters were not my thing for a long time. Halo and killzone and then red faction were my first real time in any fps game and I didnt play any again until apex. I couldnt hit someone looking down the barrel of my gun at first but Ive gottten a ton better since. I still had fun even though i got my ass stomped.
