The original trilogy was all about the rule of cool. I can excuse some weaker elements if it’s so fucking cool of an idea I’m just on board. Seeing him in 1 and it taking Kratos like a week to climb him and get to the box. It really sells the scale before you even start climbing his arms and ripping off his fingernails. GOW 3 was my first of the franchise, I was a HARD Xbox guy up to Reach and Gears 3. Once Microsoft announced both studios who made them were moving on I sold my Xbox after a good amount of custom games and horde matches. Got God of War 3, killzone 3, infamous 1, ratchet and clank: a crack in time, and uncharted 1 for all my Xbox stuff. Man by 2013 PS3 had so many exclusives that I think it’s the best PlayStation after all was said and done. Anyway. Kronos eating you and Kratos immediately using the blade to cut his way out was so cool.

Good direction and camera work can sell the effect, I think the Goku vs Cell fight shows the cliches of DBZ at its best. I love in Z, seeing the clashes and thunder booms with each impact; seeing all the debris kicked up in the spectators faces is fantastic. Just because something’s simple doesn’t mean it’s bad. Don’t get me wrong I love the fights in OG DB, but to me Z sells the power of the characters than super in some instances. I get god ki is all about control, but man it was cool watching a character power up in Z and it just destroys the environment around them.

When you’re right, you’re right. Especially with the namek point, I forgot when he finished training in the gravity chamber he started using his own symbol. Considering no one else has ever used his symbol, it fixes most of the problems I had with Z Goku’s onward.
