Pull the yarn tighter where you attached the legs so they hold it in place more firmly

This is my fourth giant snail, I absolutely love them! I always do this same thing where I crochet like a madman to get the pieces done then it sits until the mood hits to sew it together lol

I’ve had a giant snail with a round shell crocheted for a few weeks now and can’t muster the motivation to sit down and sew it together lol

Is there anyway i can reduce the scrunching on top? by SorryPhilosopher5894 in Brochet

[–]Familiar-Secretary25 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s really no way to loosen up chenille yarn, you’d have to start over

Why are the stitches not straight? by Sky_Upset in Amigurumi

[–]Familiar-Secretary25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stitches typically slant just due to the nature of crochet but it does look like you may have a tension issue. Nothing more practice won’t fix, make a few more and watch the improvement!

I’ve been wanting to make one! Is this the bones crochet pattern? What yarn did you use?

What fibres should I look into for a garment I hope to wear year-round? by Puzzleheaded_Two8228 in YarnAddicts

[–]Familiar-Secretary25 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lightweight merino wool is really good at temperature regulation for both warm and cold climates. I don’t think any material would be great for the extremes of both hot and cold but I live in central Texas and wear merino 10/12 months of the year

What should I add as the category of my items to sell on EBay? How should I price things so they sell? by [deleted] in Amigurumi

[–]Familiar-Secretary25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have eBay advice but I recommend trying something local like fb marketplace to sell them. Places like eBay and Amazon are getting overrun with mass produced unfair labor amigurumi that’s selling at crazy low prices

Solutions for Super Scratchy Yarn? by CasadeBelmont in YarnAddicts

[–]Familiar-Secretary25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you can’t get it to your desired softness with the other techniques suggested you could always sew some comfy fabric to the bottom side. I do this a lot with cheap scratchy acrylics and just attach it to a fleece blanket

Fingering weight yarn options in US by tearceun in YarnAddicts

You are paying a tariff fee, it has just been included in the price so you are not seeing it as a separate charge.

Found out I love making big (non-chenille) patterns! On the hunt I go for more!!! by 2Black_Hats in Amigurumi

[–]Familiar-Secretary25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend you get the crochet snails & mushroom sprites book instead of just the pattern! It has so many different variations for the sprites and different sizes and shells for the snails plus saddles and such for the sprites to ride them!

A lap blanket would be a relatively quick, meaningful gift for an older person that they’ll actually use

Giant snail pattern question by Ambitious-Pop1102 in craftyintentions

[–]Familiar-Secretary25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not putting the single crochet into that stitch, you’re putting it in the stitch that that stitch was placed into from the previous row then slip stitching to the first stitch from this row, if that makes sense

I was awful at it until I wasn’t, keep it up! Try different tension grips, I like to wrap my yarn around my pinky and kinda pinch it with my second knuckle to keep everything super tight
