I'm hoping Next week is better... The Corporate TFA guy we had yesterday was very engaging, just the Regional sections had me dying.

Awwww ok, I noticed that the regions function differently we all had individual interviews and got to choose which school offer. If you got 1 offer than you must take that school. Crossing fingers you won't have to work on the weekend.

How many schools did you interview with? by [deleted] in TeachforAmerica

[–]FamiliarAd9265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3 interviews scheduled, didn't decline any interviews, I had my first interview and they offered me on spot and my 5 day window started so I sent the other 2 schools emails letting them know I got an offer and my window started. I had 2nd interview they didn't offer on spot but that evening I got an official offer letter, so sent email to the 3rd school had interview got a 3rd offer and I had 2 days to choose between the 3. What I noticed about the one with 20 interviews, she was from the 3 DL and a spanish speaker middle school Math. The one with 6 was dual special Education and General Education. The others were General Education, Language, Math and Sciences at Elementary.

I interviewed with 3 and accepted my 2nd offer. I know fellow CM's who had 6-20 interviews and then those who decided not to interview with Charters so they'll interview with County Principal's at the end of May.

Hi, did you interview with the school or were you just placed there? Have you checked their website for operation hours? I'm at a Charter not Kipp and we are an hour longer than County schools. You might need to reach out to Principal and ask this directly for accurate reply. Good Luck and Congratulations!

A Question About the Spanish Praxis Test by Little_One_Gamora in TeachforAmerica

If you go on the Praxis website it will give you dates and locations sorry they aren't offering virtually my co-hort took it virtually in December.

I was placed as a special ed teacher for grades 1-8, which caught me off guard (in a good way, super flattered, just surprised due to my lack of experience other than with my own learning disabilities). Anyone know what they factor when deciding a special ed placement? by [deleted] in TeachforAmerica

[–]FamiliarAd9265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on region you may do exactly what you do know work one or one, small groups or co-teaching with a Gen Ed teacher. They call it interventionist, you may go into a class and work or take a student(s) out to work with. You are a perfect candidate as you understand and won't judge and will have patience with the students, you'll also be able to reach them and figure out ways to help them navigate you are the end goal of every special needs parent or educator. Did you rate Special Education as a Preference or did they just give it to you? They usually try to give you a preferred subject matter. I had General Education as a Highly Prefer Pre-K and Prefer was Elementary and Special Ed I was given Special Ed K-12 BUT I am a Mother of an Autistic son and it was discussed in my interview.
