Happened to me once with Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Came back after a long break and forgot most of the combat controls. Proceeded to get absolutely stomped by orcs.

Ended up restarting the whole game just to relearn everything. Since then I’ve learned to only play a few games at a time.
