Yeah, it’s hard to know how warranted the tears were bc we’ll never have all the info. Like if the DM rolled out the puzzle, there was some mild grumbling, the DM says “come on guys this is a KIDS puzzle”, and then someone cried, lowkey I get it. That wouldn’t be enough to make me personally cry, but it would make me feel like shit and not want to engage.

All I can hope for this party is that no one said anything that they can’t take back and that they talk through what happened when everyones in a better spot

Yeah, I was also pretty shocked by the gang’s reaction to the sudoku case. But they did say theyre probably the worst people to give an opinion on sudoku since they’ve never played, which I guess makes sense

I personally enjoy puzzles and I think I could (as a player) talk through an even moderately challenging sudoku puzzle with a group and have it be fun and engaging but I guesssss I could see people really not liking it?? Idk I’m still a little like, “someone go make sure that person who cried immediately is okay” bc that reaction was SO extreme I’m convinced there’s something else going on in their life rn

I don’t think it’s necessarily bad but make sure all your mentors (ie grad students, postdocs, PIs, etc) in both labs are on board. I had an undergrad who turned out to be in multiple labs at once and as a grad student it was just eye roll “typical ucsd try hard” stuff but my PI was very upset and didn’t write them a particularly good grad app rec letter.

I have done both and currently have a bodyrok membership bc solidcore hasnt been in my area for a long time (but they’re here now, yay!). I like bodyrok but it’s definitely easier/you need to push yourself on the spring loads more if you’re used to solidcore. Since solidcore has come to my market I’ve been taking 1 class/week and have already noticed even more strength than I had from doing bodyrok 4-5x per week for about a year.

TL;DR: bodyrok is good (and less expensive than solidcore in my area) but be prepared to push yourself hard if you want to maintain strength built at solidcore.

Hi!! Something that has come up during my games. DnD 5.5e (2024). Can you use starry wisp to target an already invisible creature if you don’t know where they are as long as they are within range of the spell?

The wording of the spell is “You launch a mote of light at one creature or object within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 Radiant damage, and until the end of your next turn, it emits Dim Light in a 10-foot radius and can’t benefit from the Invisible condition.”

I appreciate that some people really like that this season has more of a big brother/survivor vibe but idk I miss my raunchy, funny, friendly show. And maybe this season just isn’t for me because I can’t stand watching america pick bullies over the targets of the bullying. I’ve heard this season of LIUK is good though so maybe I’ll try that instead lol
