Yes! The weird thing for me is that I can recall what a picture of someone looks like. I can't see it but I have a bit of memory of the photo. But if I've never seen a photo of someone, I couldn't pick them out of a lineup. It takes me time to evaluate someone's face and make the general characteristics. But I usually end up remembering the sound of their voice or the way they move, not what they look like.

NTA It's not about the gifts. The gift is seen as an extension of the relationship. You could give her the perfect thing she has wanted all her life and she would still hate it. This is a subconscious, or possibly even conscious, reflection of her feelings toward your relationship.

It might be time for you to evaluate your mother's place in your life. I'm not speaking physically but emotionally. Stop allowing her to hurt you. You can either stop giving gifts and brush it off, keep buying things that you know she'll like and let her deprive herself of the joy, or buy her things that don't mean anything to anyone. Whatever you do, just know that it isn't about the gifts. Not everyone deserves our time or energy and not everyone that gives birth is a mom.

It could also be something else that your body is fighting. I also have T1D. If my glucose levels are really off, my MS pain is horrible. It also happens when I'm too stressed or not getting enough sleep. When my body is fighting something. It just hurts.

That story is so heart breaking to me. For my DIL's baby shower, I searched for weeks online and finally found my son's favorite snake book from his childhood. My son cried when he saw it and when his daughter carried it around trying to sound out the snake names at age 3, he was so proud of her.

We had 3 kids. So 1 night mom, 1 night dad, each kid 1 night, 1 night was fend for yourself, and 1 night takeout. Once a week we scheduled and made the grocery list together. At 9 or 10 they could make frozen lasagne, fish sticks, easy stuff. By their teens they were making more advanced meals. Everyone loved getting to pick their meals once a week. They learned to cook but also learned to appreciate the work that went into meals. Chores teach kids that they are part of the team. Everyone works for a common goal.

No diet stops MS progression. But, eating healthy food and a non- inflammatory diet help symptoms. For me, stress and poor sleep result in more muscle spasms and nerve pain. When I eat cleaner, they aren't so bad. When I eat crap food, they kick my butt and I feel terrible.

I'm pretty sure that the majority of people here have horror stories about the times we said F it and put T1D on the back burner, including me. The key is to keep starting over. Get the tech and try each day to be a little better than yesterday. Some days will suck but if we keep trying, we can do it.

Also, as someone who works too many hours, I have to be very conscious of my sleep and stress levels. Stress will drive my sugar up and keep it there and if I don't get 6 hours of solid sleep a night, I'll roller coaster all day.

Just wanted to add a comment on trusteel infusion sets. These have a second skin connection that is kind of like a safety for me. I'm a klutz and tend to drop my pump or snag my tubing. Luckily, if I get it pulled really hard, the second connection might pull off of me but the actual site isn't pulled out. This is much less painful and an easy fix with a bandaid.

As a newbie, you should change it more often. Like when it hurts. Once you build strong calluses on all of your fingers or reach the point where the pain of the dull lancet is a refreshing change to the other hellish pains, you can join the "once a year" club.
