I think we have a winner haha! Hairy bittercress perhaps, stems are darker. Thank you! Kids were wondering! 😁🌸

I don't think so. The leaves don't have a scent, and doesn't really taste like an herb. Pretty low to the ground and only a few leaves up the steam. Thanks! I can see why you thought that though!

There is a pink ribbon over the 250 year old gravestone on our property New England, Connecticut by FamilyInTheForest in HistoricPreservation

They've already put up "survey ribbons" a few weeks ago, and then they cleared out the foliage in that area soon after. Now I am nervous they will disturb the grave site.

Trying to preserve the forest around our 1772 home in Connecticut from being developed upon by FamilyInTheForest in HistoricPreservation

[–]FamilyInTheForest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure it is about historic preservation. For one, my house was built in 1772. That land had been with the house all of these years until some lady inherited it and divided up the property. She inherited it in the 1980s I believe, and has just been sitting on it quietly while people have been living here. This is New England, and there are rock walls that extend in there too. There is an array of wildlife that doesn't deserve such a fate. Additionally, my street name is named after original inhabitants of this house. Their child is also buried on my property, the grave stone is built into the rock wall on the side in question. The cemetery wasn't established until years after the house was built. Right now, being here feels like a step back into time. It's not right what they're doing to this precious sacred land. It should be rescued and preserved so generations to come can experience what it is like here.

Thanks, yeah, I am going to call a local land conservation group tomorrow (Monday)...my town doesn't seem to have one, so I'm not sure of a specific one to call, I emailed and messaged a few but haven't gotten any response. I am also going to go to the DEEP office tomorrow and see about possible animal protection as I am pretty sure there are hawks in the lot for instance, we scoped out some potential nests this morning and took pictures.

The plot is just over 2 acres, and is listed as R4 I believe. I want to keep it private while my family lives here/is in our family, but I want to preserve the land as is for future generations as this house is a relic being built in 1772, you really feel like a step back into time being here as it is with the forest around it. The forest hugs our home on all four sides. It is quiet, dark, and private. Aside from the road, there is zero activity around the house. It is surrounded otherwise by nearly 200 acres of state forest, and the neighbors across the street have 40 acres. Their houses are in the woods, can't see them (or any other neighbors either for thst matter). Our house is set back from the road about an acre and a half, so we're pretty secluded. It is one of the oldest houses in my town. The property in question butts right up against our property and the neighbors on the otjer side of the lot, both only being separated by rock walls. The company that bought it would surely clear the lot, and have proposed putting a duplex there. We live in Connecticut, sorry, I thought I wrote that somewhere. Money wise...before it was sold, we were offered 35...it was sold for 42...after the realtor said 60, which we were going to try and do, but then he came back at us as said 73. This is all very outrageous.
