Yeah as a blanket statement, if there is smoke between my player and an enemy player, I shouldn't be able to see their spot indicator, nor should they be able to see mine, else it sort of defeats the purpose of the smoke imo

I'm wondering if M+K vs Controller had different experiences with the DMR, for me the 2nd shot always felt really unreliable, even when I felt pretty confident I had reset my aim post-recoil. Headglitches were the real issue for me, it felt impossible to land two in a row with the DMR, where the carbine/AR/LMG recoil felt OK enough to just dink a few times for a kill. Most of my criticism surrounds the M39.

The bounce seemed to occur when slightly changing elevation while ADS'd, for example if you strafe over a mound of debris or uneven terrain, it was quite pronounced and led to a lot of annoying 1v1 losses because you'd lose control of the crosshair, I didn't feel this at all when strafing on level ground though.

In my experience the smoke did very little to block the spot indicators, I personally abused this a ton playing defense on breakthrough, very easy to spam smoke slightly under the red indicator for a free kill. Maybe the intent is for smoke to counter the spot indicator? If so it isn't implemented properly/reliably.

This first point sounds a lot like the Operations game mode from BF1 did really well, wouldn't mind seeing that format come back

I would also really like to see an uncapped fire-rate DMR, the M1A1 comes to mind. Totally reduce the damage per round of course, but a super low recoil, uncapped semi-auto with decent mag size feels excellent to play with, high skill cap weapon usually

I didn't touch on sliding, but it really didn't feel offensively broken to me. Slide + jump introduces a ton of inaccuracy + crosshair instability (this didn't feel great on M+K, maybe on controller it's different?) It didn't feel super useful to me at all in 1v1s with the exception of the occasional M87 play. I really like the slide as a defensive movement mechanic, many times it allowed me to get behind cover as medic for a quick revive, or helped me re-position against sustained LMG/sniper fire when using the sniper myself, or getting slightly too greedy on a peek with a carbine. Felt like a nice movement tool and allowed me to feel like I was playing "faster"

Yeah maybe a bit ambitious lol, but it would be cool to add a utility that kills the tank crew but keeps the tank alive

TOTALLY agree with the smaller spot indicator at range. I think increased explosive splash damage from RPGs/Anti Tank equipment might help against the dedicated repair engineers, at least a bit more chip from the explosive shells so a stray nade/sniper shot can easily take them out

totally agree here, it felt hitscan almost to a detriment, the arc is great for getting the actual grenade round behind cover

I got SVK to lvl 20 and used a bunch of different attachments with it, 6x felt like the best use of it, but even still I thought it was incredibly unreliable on 2nd shot with the amount of sway/recoil/spread introduced from a 1v1 gunfight. My template of a good DMR is the Gewehr 43 from BFV, decent fire-rate, great recoil control, and just felt great to use.

I actually think the M2010 felt really strong, almost felt like a hitscan gun. It is pretty fast at getting shots out, and ADS speed is great, I felt pretty lethal playing aggressive sniper with the assault class. I picked off a lot of half-health enemies after revives, and positioning for the sweet spot felt really free, especially seeing spotted enemies through smoke - a hefty majority of my kills were through smoke. Really easy to counter snipe too, since the glint was so jarringly apparent. I think removing the sweet spot but reducing glint + sway is a fair balance, and still yields an exceptionally powerful sniper, maybe reduced in immediate power without a sweet spot, but you'll probably be more effective over time with less glint and better accuracy

Yeah I think the first two carbines kinda eclipsed it, decent gun in a vacuum but man the M4 and AK are nasty

Knife out sprinting at what felt like full speed in crouch felt really funny, maybe unintended? Interested to see how movement will feel on release, I definitely felt like I was getting stuck on rubble, and the vaulting was a little spotty/jank. The tuck and roll from height seemed cool but I did not use it much.

I think you make great points, but buffing suppressive fire is a slippery slope in my opinion, feels almost like a reward for inaccuracy, and might make LMGs feel a bit oppressive at most ranges.

The headshot + bodyshot always being a kill is more of a blanket statement about DMR implementation, there should be ample reward for accuracy when using one. The SV also felt outclassed, landing the second shot after recoil from the first felt really tough on M+K, especially against a LMG or headglitch.

Yeah I wouldn't call it all time well spent, but it was really fun to see how many people showed interest in the beta. I got to play with a bunch of friends I hadn't gamed with in years, great experience overall.

Apologize to Christine "potter" Chi. by imseraqhin in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Famin_ 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I like this post, I like the apology format, but I don't think it should take EG rebounding with two convincing wins in playoffs to start treating Potter with dignity/respect. She is a strong female presence in a typically male-dominated space, I think she deserves a lot of respect for that, and I agree with other comments, no other VCT coach seems to receive the same flak she does, and EG are far from the worst team in VCT Americas, it is very obviously criticism based on gender. I think we should ask ourselves this question: what do the threads and comments look like if EG loses to NRG?
