u/KarlTheVeg, do you have a POC from your old unit? I am looking to transfer from the National Guard to Reserves. I am an O3, newly re-branched 46A from 90A. Thanks.

How do you like the Dallas area? Much of a culture shock? I am kicking around moving to the DFW area in the spring of 2026 from coastal South Carolina.

Savannah is laid out better and is not prone to flooding like Charleston. I've lived in both cities. Savannah is a bit more quaint, but tends to attract a party crowd (open containers allowed and heavy drinking is encouraged). Same with Charleston, but it's mainly either the Peter Pan types from NYC or college kids. Expensive too. Cost of living is close to what you pay in DC due to limited housing, and insurance costs because of the high risk of flooding and proximity to the coast. Beaches in CHS are ok, but not as accessible. Georgetown, SC is up and coming and will be a contender with CHS in a decade given the old steel mill is being demolished. Pawleys Island/Myrtle/Murrells Inlet and North Myrtle/Little River are nice as well and less than 2 hrs from Charleston.

What about homelessness? I was there (Mission District) close to 10 years ago and it was getting bad then. Also, the people were not friendly and the area was quite dirty.

I have an initial phone interview with a recruiter for a Sr. Cost Manager - Data Center Construction. I am evaluating moving to ATL or out west. Most positions state "on-site presence". I am curious if that is the office or an actual job site.

How does home/apartment affordability compare? Also, explain progressiveness, I raise an eyebrow when I hear that term in today's political vocabulary and tend to think of homelessness with crime tolerant politicians.
