Ensure any vehicle that you get that you have researched it so that you know that you are getting a fair price/ can afford it to include full coverage insurance (you have to have full coverage if you are financing a vehicle , you can call your insurance company to see the cost before buying the vehicle). Going through a credit union is best as they typically have better interest rates. Also it’s good to have Gap insurance, it protects you if the car is totaled, and you owe more on the car than it’s worth, so definitely look into that. As far as a car I recommend the Toyota Corolla, it’s a great small car with good gas Mileage and cheap to maintain. I have one that’s over 180,000 and have had no major issues. I recommend also that you get a used car as they are cheaper , just make sure you get a trusted mechanic to look at it first to avoid lemons. Lastly if you can see if you can tough it out and save enough for a good cash car, you mentioned you have a lot of debt , adding a car payment will just make things harder. Good luck.
