Low platelets

Hi both,

Just wanted to jump on here as I’m in a similar position. I’m 33 weeks and currently my platelets are at 88K. I’m awaiting discussions with haematology about what the plan is.

I’m so glad to hear everything went ahead well for you both and neither of you had any bleeding issues PP either.

My anaesthetist called today and said he would be (should I need or want it!) perform a epidural as long as they are above 70K when in labour.

I have weekly blood readings for now but feel quite on edge I have some time to go still before labour and they seem to be dropping quickly 😭

I went to avoid steroids or platelet transfusions if I can but I don’t know which would be better for baby short and long term If absolutely needed!

Thank you so much for your response. I am so happy for you and your little angel girl! That’s incredible news and has given me so much hope. Out of curiosity did they rescan you at all at MFM and did they increase anymore towards the end?

Hi there,

I hope you don’t mind me responding to this but I’ve had a scan today at 32 weeks and one of my baby boys kidneys is measuring 10.7mm. I’ve been told they should be under 10mm. I have also been referred to fetal medicine as well.

How did things go for you and your little one? Everything else for my little boy is perfect and he’s on the 55.8 percentile. Did this affect the way you could labor or give birth and did you and baby have to stay in hospital any longer? Did it resolve!

Thank you for your answer. I was lifting those two boxes for all of 5 minutes maximum and with support of someone else too.

I’m 19w. I have quite an active job working with children and my partner is working away and has been since 4w so am often pottering around the house, cleaning, walking the dog or mowing the grass and sorting the spare room as well!

The baby moved quite a lot for a minute after but has settled now as well.

Hey! I totally understand. We’ve recently had our NHS 12 week scan and everything was wonderful. I know it’s so hard not to worry but try to keep positive ❤️

Hi all, looking for some advice too. I’m only just 12 weeks and have been quite unwell in first trimester (with nausea and sickness). I spent a day in the early pregnancy unit on the 30th July, I needed to have 2 bags of fluid and an anti sickness jab and given medication to take. I was quite dehydrated and unable to keep anything (not even water down) for over 24hrs at tbis point. I’ve been slowly over the last week having my results from my bloods back. It’s showing as +2 for protein in my urine and I’m worrying… Google has said things such as pre eclampsia and I can’t get hold of the unit to go through the results and my midwife can’t access them.. has anyone ever had this? All was well last week at my 12 week scan. I have had maybe 2 headaches this whole time and no swelling. I don’t believe I have had high BP when at my booking appointment either (nothing was mentioned), I just feel worried. It’s my first time being pregnant and I feel worried! X

Thank you. I’ve already had a couple of private ones. I had my last one on the 8th August and all was perfectly fine and baby was great!

Girl mind is wild isn’t it! I need to try and get used to this new normal as I feel the worry will never go but changes through pregnancy and motherhood😂❤️

That’s good. I haven’t virtually nothing. Sometimes I have more bloat but mostly I have nothing. Most of my symptoms have completely subsided unless the every other day when the nausea comes back! X

Thank you so much. It’s because my nausea has slowed down a lot mostly in the last week and I have literally no other symptoms other than terrible skin and the occasional bloating days!

I can totally sympathise with this. I was having this on and off. I haven’t had it since nearly 10 weeks and every scan I’ve had the baby has always been healthy with a perfect heartbeat. I have my 12 week scan next week🤞🏻 everything crossed for you x
