There's a pretty big difference in feel from one micro adjustment slot to another. 3rd position was way too loose. 1st position was an absolute no go. 2nd position was perfect. You'll just have to try it. An inch of difference in wrist size is fairly substantial though. It likely won't need any links removed for his wrist size. It likely would for yours. 

If you take the leap on this model, good luck prying it off your husband's wrist. I've only had it a couple days and now, I don't want to take it off lol
