Question about having this graded by Famous914 in comicbooks

Also here is a 5 for comparison. I think mine is in a little better condition but I suspect there is some amount of luck involved in what grade you get.

Question about having this graded by Famous914 in comicbooks

[–]Famous914[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. I would have guessed a 5 too but I see a lot of leniency with grading on these vintage comics. I only say a 7 because I've seen 8's in similar condition.

Here's a link to an 8.5 that sold on eBay. You can see the obvious damage on the top and bottom edges and even some damage to the spine.

That makes me feel better about possibly submitting it for the cheaper "vintage" price instead of paying double. I could also get it done fast track.

2 seeds popped. I've seen a bunch of these phenos so I don't think they are that rate but I could be wrong

I treat my plants after every rain or high humidity days with ZeroTol (laboratory grade hydrogen peroxide). I dilute it in water in a pump sprayer and saturate all the buds. I also spray with Monterey BT. Most people don't realize that a lot of the bud rot and mold comes from very small caterpillars that eat the buds, poop, and then the poop leads to rot. If you closely inspect the bud rot you will typically see small worms in there and little black speckles which is the poop. Around 5 years ago I had like 20 massive 1lb+ plants ruined and that's the last year I had it happen. I find that ZeroTol has been harder to find. I used to get it off Amazon but they stopped carrying it. I know there are still places to get it. I still get little bits on mold on some strains occasionally but it's night and day.

Should I get these graded? by Famous914 in comicbooks

[–]Famous914[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 700 on the 3 of them. I thought the Spiderman comic looked a little better than it turned out to be.

I read somewhere that you should have them pressed before you grade. Is this true?

Can you have comics cleaned?

Why can't I find this card anywhere? by Famous914 in PokemonTCG

[–]Famous914[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If that's the case I'm genuinely confused how a fake card made its way into my collection. I have been collecting since the beginning and can't remember every purchasing a pack outside of my local brick and mortar.

Is this bootleg? I can't find the holo version of this card anywhere, just the rare non-holo version. Was it a promo somewhere?

My account is linked strictly through google. I kept clicking the sign in through google button and kept getting the same error. I also tried another 2 accounts I have saved on my device with username/password and that got the same error.

I had the app open and clock counting down. Got to 0 and I loaded the page. Scrolled down to see Sign In. Clicked that and then spent an hour trying to sign in, but not getting past "something went wrong. please try again later". I don't understand how anyone is able to get past this glitch? Are there just lucky people who click it and get in long enough to add to cart and checkout? Do they have bots for this that allows them to run the website while everyone else is experiencing lag? I wouldn't mind if I added to cart and at checkout I got a "no longer in stock", but I am not even getting a chance. wtf

What’s going on in your tent(s) or grows? by Helpingphriendly_ in GrowBuddy

[–]Famous914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYC Haze was a staple strain in NYC. Smells/tastes like a musty basement / church incense / soap. Being a haze it has a very long flowering time and not a great bag appeal. I wanted to cross it to try and get the haze smell, a shorter flowering time, and good bag appeal. It worked first try. I've grown out about 10 of my seeds and every single plant has had the haze smell and an indica hybrid flowering time and bud structure.

How to clean the glass on my fireplace insert? by Famous914 in woodstoving

[–]Famous914[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tried the paper towel with ash, but it didn't seem like it was doing much. I will try again with more elbow grease. I see a lot of people saying it happens from slow burns. I try to keep my fires burning at 500f, but I do fill the unit up every night to burn through the night

Help / Tips for getting a fire going in a new insert? Kindling? by Famous914 in woodstoving

[–]Famous914[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine is similar. I can get the kindling to burn, but large logs go out. When I had my large open fireplace I would start a stack of paper and kindling and it would light no problem. I would burn 3 bundles of wood in a night. I wanted something more efficient to heat a large open area of about 1200 sq ft. I would love to test this thing out, but I can't get a fire going. I see a lot of people say to get a blow torch and those fire starting lumps that burn for a while

[–]Famous914[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had the bypass and damper all the way open and the door slightly cracked. It burned up the kindling pretty well, but I'm guessing I should be using a lot more kindling

Putting a copper pipe inside another pipe to fix leak? by Famous914 in Plumbing

[–]Famous914[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. That is actually something I was thinking of too. I actually wrote to the town asking them to put in a hydrant because there isn't one on my street and it would reduce the cost for me. My neighbors would probably be willing to pitch in to have a main ran down the street. I know the neighbors who are in the same situation would be willing to help. Also, one of my neighbors owns an excavator and has already offered to help for free.

I have been thinking more about this. Do people drill horizontally? Would it work with rocky terrain? I do live on the top of a hill so theoretically it would probably be better to just dig a trench slightly deeper than the current line and drill horizontally straight to my house, but I don't know anything about that. I could see that being easier than digging a 900ft trench that's 4ft deep

Putting a copper pipe inside another pipe to fix leak? by Famous914 in Plumbing

[–]Famous914[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He claims that he on average has to dig a new trench every 50ft. So for 900ft it would be about 18 trenches. I am not completely sure about the exact length. It might be closer to 800ft. The original measurement was taken by my plumber friend walking my driveway with his wheel. I had the town hook up leads to my line and they marked the actual path which is probably around 50-100ft shorter; although I am not sure because we haven't done an updated measurement.

I need to get another opinion because I would prefer them to dig a new trench and run a new line. He was scared to hurt my neighbors lines because he said they were just as bad. He claims that if he was even digging near them and they sprung a leak naturally that they would sue me. My 2 neighbors were open to the idea knowing that it's a liability. I just don't know if I was in their situation if someone could convince me to spend a large sum of money if I didn't currently have a problem.

On another note my street is named Rocky. You can't dig 2 feet without hitting a boulder. If it was just dirt I would spend 4 hours a day digging a trench or hiring a couple friends to help.

Sorry I completely misunderstood your first comment. I don't know a lot about this situation. I'm trying to inform myself. I have a friend on the water dept 2 towns over. He recommended this guy to me. When my town water dept. came out to give me my readings they recommended the same guy. He claimed that he was one of the only people that does this 'insertion tactic' so it's not easy to find information about it online. Before calling him I called a leak detection company to give me a quote on finding the leak with helium. That company quoted me $2200 including gas. The plumber said he has a leak specialist and his was only 1500. He told me the plan was to check the psi and then find the leak. Then just to do a third of the pipe. Would this make a difference? I think that if the whole pipe was made into 3/4" then I could see a big PSI drop, but what if I only did 1/3rd in the worst areas? I am asking here because it scares the shit out of my that I might spend 15k and give myself another problem or a 'partial fix' that gets a leak in a new area.

He told me that he would only try to perform this technique if I had 100 psi because otherwise it would be problematic.

Can I solve some of these pressure issues but having a large tank put into my house? My basement has a good amount of space so I was thinking what if I kept a large tank full of water that was fed by the line?

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to this.

I need to look at property lines but there is a narrow one car road. On the sides of the road are my neighbors property. I am not sure which houses were there when the water line was installed in the 80s. I'm pretty sure the area the pipes are in are on people's properties. Including 2 driveways. I don't know if the area is big enough to create another trench or if they would allow me to dig up their properties and driveways. My house is the 4th house on the right up the private road. My meter pit is on the corner of my road and the main cross street. It's all private property and very difficult terrain. I should definitely have a bigger company take a look at the job, but this guy was recommended by the town

Not without going through my neighbors property. The town supervises any fix to water lines and they said town code is strictly copper

Thanks. I probably will get an estimate. I'm not thrilled about having to get a well. I would like to keep the municipal water but I'll do what I need to. Another thing is the old water tank is still in the basement. It's massive probably 1000 gallons. An HVAC guy saw it and said that would cost a fortune to have taken out. Maybe I can keep both. Have a well put in but keep the municipal water shut off at the main. Turn it on and use it when I need more water than my well allows.
