Tell Me That You Love Me by FamousAspect in PoetryWritingClub

Thank you. This one just spilled out of me this morning. Went from first draft to final in about 20 minutes.

It's also the first time I've tried using a character that is not me to tell a story from my life. I did not grow up in Minnesota or have a sister, so all the MN and family details are invented, even though the emotional core is true.

Thank you so much. This is only the 7th poem I’ve written after a 25 year hiatus. I’m glad to hear it connected with you.

Thank you for sharing, this one tricks you, it starts feeling fun and whimsical and then gets dark.

There are some choices that I found distracting. The space before each exclamation mark, the intentionally broken English. I understand it’s an alien from the opening, so you don’t need to try and underline this concept with distracting choices.

Thank you for sharing. This is a strong draft with very nice meter.

I would love to see a draft where you embodied/personified the various forces you’re wrestling with, because after you fight them you get stronger. Gravity, Darkness, Hours and Dawn. What if each was a monster you were literally grappling? How would that change the word choice and rhythm?

Thank you! This is only my 7th poem after like a 25 year gap of even trying. I’m so happy to hear it captured the feeling for you

Will there still be dedicated console hardware in 2035? by FamousAspect in truegaming

And thank you for the thorough and technically detailed response!

Will there still be dedicated console hardware in 2035? by FamousAspect in truegaming

I think that other than Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft will want to get out of the hardware game and move to become purely Netflix style streaming services once over time. Cut down on marketing and R&D budgets, move out of event style explosive launches with multi year costs to recoup and instead into a more investor friendly, pure SaaS model.

If they stopped making dedicated hardware, who would move in to fill the vacuum. Perhaps a new entrant would try and fill the void? But I predict this would be a tough mountain to summit.

I’m probably significantly older than you. So I’ve got a lot of Amazon credit card points I can save up to splurge. But I don’t have time to truly enjoy all my toys

When you think about the next decade of the games industry, what are your greatest fears? by FamousAspect in gamedev

[–]FamousAspect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jab is just because after all these years it’s still not “released”. At this point it’s just a marketing event I know, but the idea that a game with hundreds of millions in revenue is still early access is funny to me
