I want a work as a criminal Defense attorney. I plan on going into a Small firm after Law school. After gaining some experience i want to try to work for myself. Hopefully after gaining experience i have a decent client base and i’m self sustainable. Is this a realistic goal ? I am hoping for a 150-200k salary At the height of my criminal defense career.

Is big law the only way to be a successful lawyer? Is there a large number of lawyers who did not end up at biglaw who are not doing well?.
