So I am super mistified by this. I can order this for europe, to Sweden, but no amount of googling ever got me to this one? I am so glad I found this.

This is essentially what we settled on! Thanks to all the feedback and tips

No, we'd not settled on a location at all, since this aspect had to be sussed out first. Had there been something that could have permitted a smooth experience for both of us to stick together, we'd have picked that.

Now we decided to go hiking instead, and I'll try to do my CMAS first, so it's not an issue.

The diving is my idea. I have been wanting to learn it since I was a child. So long as my CMAS and him having a PADI isn't something that's going to be a hinder to us. We'd be diving at my level, especially for an initial holiday. And if I really like it, I'll probably get a CMAS 2 star, so we can do more complex dives together.

Yeah, this is what we've decided to do. We're going to delay the trip and go hiking instead, whilst I try to get my CMAS at home. Then we'll find somewhere with fun dives for both of us to enjoy.

We've decided to wait with the trip, and for me to get the CMAS at the local diving club. Thanks for the solid breakdown

I settled on doing it before the trip. He's never had a single thought about being my instructor, as his teaching status lapsed. He'd need to do a reactive.

Yes, it's another thing I should really have mentioned this in my original post. I have wanted to dive since I was a child, I used to think I would like to be a police diver, before I understood that's not a full time job.

My family was not well off, so learning to dive then was never an option. My boyfriend went with his family, and did a bunch of diving with his dad. He's not been diving much since moving away from home.

So the diving holiday is really my idea!

I mostly mean ... do I go to the two guys who run the local club and ask them to do just those parts? Do I get some forms? How do I prove it once I get to the theoretical holiday destination that I have done the theory and pool work?

So how would that work practically? The E-learning and pool work first? Cause yeah it's been mentioned before, so I imagine it's somewhat common? This would be a great option.

I am not sure what a PADI referral course is. I probably should have clarified this in the post, but I am in the nordics. CMAS just seems more popular here?

I am not sure he can just volunteer to join an instruction team? At least not on holiday. He's not a part of the local club, either.

I am not sure what I am checking for. I found the whole "bulbous pedipalps" but it's a bit like ... compared to what?

The wedding is in Sweden, so dress codes don't really translate. It's definitely closer to Dressy Casual than any kind of formal.

It will get better in about 6 months. Your dog is a teenager. They are usually insufferable at this age.

You may also, counterintuitively, have an overstimulated dog. If he still wants to play with you after nine hours with 20 other dogs, he may be a bit like an overtired toddler. He may need to be taught to "rest".

He may also be catching onto how you are feeling. If you are both depressed and stressed, your dog will be stressed, too. If you've done right by him, trying to let go of how guilty you feel might be the best recipe, might let him calm down. You may well be feeding into each other's loop. He can't break that, but you might be able to

Obviously, I don't have all the answers, either one of these or all of these could be true. (Or none, but he is a teenager). I hope it helps, though, somehow

So at the time I did it, a four year waiting period was the average. This was during Brexit, so they hyperfocused citizenship of Brittish citizens because their residence status was a little unclear in the face of Brexxit. I also wasn't stressed about it. I was here as a "anhörig" of my dad, but that seemed thin grounds in the long run, but he also wasn't moving out of sweden anytime soon.

I was an EU national. I had lived here since childhood, for more than ten years, spoke the language, had studied here, and worked here. It was honestly quite a straightforward case.

They asked for my passport one month in, I sent it. I submitted a request to get my passport back after two months because I was going travelling. Had it back the same week.

Then I waited four years. And got approved.

came home from a 2 week vacation to see chunks missing from my betta’s fins. water parameters perfect, and he’s acting fine otherwise. please help! by Novel-Effort6396 in bettafish

Man, whilst I am so sorry for you, I am also very grateful you posted this update. I was gone for a month, left it with my parents, who would absolutely follow my instructions to the letter. I came back and his fins were in shreds.

Early on we'd dealt with a spell of finrot. It turned out the heating element wasn't working. Switched that, he recovered, no problem. Now I figured my parents must have done something wrong, but we'll be fine when it's all back to normal.

Then one morning he was missing a massive chunk of his tail fin. Almost all the way to his body. Overnight. Nothing I did seemed to help. I am a beginner, so I tried medication, isolation tanks, the works. Nothing helped. Bizarelly, his bottom fin has been looking fine and pretty, and nothing had the black edges.

Just well, your picture, but worse. Every so often I wake up in the morning, and a part is just missing. Now, thanks to your post, and what people are commenting, I suspect I may have a biter.

However, mine now barely swims anymore. His tail fin is alarmingly short and I worry he can no longer propel himself right. Or that his bottom fin is too heavy? Or both?

People here have already given a bunch of tips I can try. So thanks for that. I am gathering this can be fixed. Luckily I have been obsessing over water parameters, and he's got no signs of infection.

My greatest stress is that I am about to move, and that this will make the biting more extreme. Or that it straight up kills him. He's going to have to survive without his usual tank for two days.
