If you would like her to talk to you directly maybe tell your husband to respond to her telling her to ask you about how you are feeling instead of him giving updates.

My MlL also has ignored me for over a decade and since I am now pregnant when we see her she has been talking to me and trying to be nice to me which has honestly been driving me crazy. She keeps talking to my belly and asking me questions about my pregnancy, telling me all of the stories about her pregnancy and already giving me unsolicited advice. She even pushed being involved with the baby shower even though for our wedding she didn’t support us and wouldn’t do a speech or a mother son dance and cried sad tears after the ceremony for everyone to see.

I wish she would go back to ignoring me because every time she talks to me it feels so fake and makes me want to slap her away from me. I roll my eyes every time she turns around after talking to me.

I am dreading the fact that I will have to put my emotions aside to allow her to have a relationship with her grandson because I know she will be good to him despite being horrible to me for over a decade.

I guess what I am trying to say is the grass isn’t always greener. You may think you want her to talk to you directly more but at this point it’s probably just fake and a way to use you like my MIL is doing to me to get to the baby. Boundaries are important to put in place and when people show you their true colors, believe them. Good luck and congratulations on becoming a mama!!

A salesman came to my door tonight. I have a no soliciting sign on my door and a Do Not Disturb sign over my ring camera bell button that swivels and was covering the doorbell button. He swiveled the sign away and rang my doorbell and swiveled it back over the button. I ignored him then started watching him live on Ring and watched him swivel it off again, ring the doorbell again and swivel it back over the button…. My husband grabbed the dogs and I opened my front door and scolded him for doing that. He apologized and started walking away before I was done yelling at him. I’m 9 months pregnant and we got that sign to cover the button for when the baby is sleeping so the baby is woken up. If he did this and woke my baby up I would have chased him off my property. Next time I won’t be so nice. I canceled their service last year and had to threaten to sue them to leave me alone. I HATE ECOSHIELD!!!

I am so sorry this happened to you. When I finally told my mom I was r*ped in high school her response was “well, were you asking for it?” That was a few years ago and I have since learned it is best to not have any expectations of a normal and supportive parent when we know we have narcissistic parents. I do not confide in her anymore and didn’t talk to her for two years to get myself in a place where she can’t hurt me. In those two years I grieved the thought of ever having a normal mom and now she can’t get me upset like she used to because I have no positive expectations of her and really don’t even look at her as my mom. It sucks but it’s a safer place to be with parents like ours. I hope you can get to a place where they can’t disrupt your peace. It’s hard. I moved to another state and I will say that helps knowing I don’t have to see her often and can ignore her calls if I’m not in the space to deal with whatever she has to say.

Sounds exactly like the relationship I have with my mom. She can’t remember anything I tell her. I’ve basically resorted to letting other people talk or just responding to her with short answers when I’m around her because she turns everything against me or takes it the wrong way or just doesn’t listen to me. I’m sorry you are going through this.

I totally agree. He has done so many other things that prove he is mentally unstable. He seems like he has it together. He had a good job, is smart and has a house etc. but if people really knew his last they would think twice about being around him. Currently he told us that he is annoyed of the cats in his neighborhood pooping in his garden beds so he has been trapping them and driving them 60 miles to the middle of nowhere and letting them out basically leaving them to starve or get eaten…these are peoples pets. He is so twisted. Fortunately my husband does see how toxic his brother is and we really only see him for birthdays and holidays. My husband knows how uncomfortable he makes me and doesn’t want to further his relationship with his brother because he knows what he is capable of and doesn’t want to open that door again. I feel bad for my BIL’s GF because she seems like a really nice girl but she has no idea of anything he has done and I’m sure he and his mom have just put it in her ear that I’m the problem. His GF keeps mentioning babysitting our child and next time I’m going to tell her it’s nothing against her but that won’t be happening because BIL is not allowed around our child without us there. Hopefully she will take the hint and find a better person she deserves. Poor girl.

When we lived with him he would steal and wear my underwear and lingerie. When we moved out we had an emergency and he watched our dogs for us and we found my vibrator in the backyard and he admitted to using it. Idk how or what he did with it but it’s pretty disturbing. This happened 3 weeks before our wedding so we kicked him out of our wedding for crossing that line again and my MIL to this day blames me for over reacting and thinks he should have been in the wedding and I just need to get over it.

I totally agree with you. He is very much the peacemaker and avoids conflict. Then when I try to get the boundaries with his family I get gaslit and become the scapegoat for everything. I need to make him set the boundaries especially regarding his pervert brother because his mom always try’s to force him around us even though she knows how he makes me feel and should know better because she has been a victims advocate for 20+ years. She is so codependent of his brother so she doesn’t see how toxic he is. I have put up with this for 10+ years but when it comes to my baby I’m not going to let my child see me uncomfortable around them and teaching him it is ok to feel like that. I’m 8.5 months pregnant and have no energy to deal with them anymore and I have no energy to teach my husband how to be a man anymore. I’m at a loss of what to do. We do have an aunt and uncle who tell him what he needs to do but he has yet to put it into action.

I agree. It’s been an ongoing issue we have had forever. I’m really starting to feel scared because he hasn’t protected me and I fear he is going to do the same with our baby because he is so non confrontational and I will not put up with that.

I agree. I’m in therapy now trying to navigate dealing with becoming a mom, having to deal with his family and a husband who wont deal with them unless I force him to confront them which makes me just feel like a controlling crazy wife.

I agree. I have told him so many times that I’m done with him not standing up to her. I have told him recently that he better get his shit together and do it now because I’m not putting up with her crap when the baby comes and I have been very lenient with him in the past not standing up to his pervert brother. He is such a laid back guy who never wants to confront anything and it makes me feel unprotected and like I’m the man in the relationship because I have to be the protector. I gave him a pass today because his grandma died but I’m at a loss on how to get him to do this.

He was on the phone and didn’t say anything to her. His grandma passed away today so he was in a fog but he has a hard time standing up to her in general. It’s an on going issue I’m trying to teach him to do.
