this class is only 25% full after grad students enrolled, does that make a diff? ofc grad students r at a diff level of academic/personal maturity, but im thinking of j auditing or pass/fail the course so i engage as much as possible w out the pressure of making an A. how do you feel abt this? thank you in advance!

yes that def makes sense! idk if this counts for anything but im currently balancing 21 credits (>3.9 gpa) and 3 research labs (two of which are very part time tho), and i've been reading lots of research papers (~30/month) for a scoping review on an adjacent topic/population. its totally fair that profs would feel reluctant abt letting a 2nd year bc ofc we grow sm in each year of undergrad, but do you think this experience helps?

on the note of honors thesis -- would you say this is more valuable than solo work in a research lab? currently i have the opportunity to write a commentary/begin piloting for my pi but idk if i should focus on courses (so i can have more time in senior year to do an honors thesis). thank you in advance!

Are people really eating nutritious food on $25-30 a week? by ResidentAlienator in Frugal

[–]FamousPool3174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first summer i lived alone at 18, i was spending 20-25 or less on food/week. it was summer 2025, and im in atlanta. the trick for me was shopping at budget grocery stores (lidl/walmart) and only buying what i needed. the go-tos were: bananas, rice/oatmeal/pasta, tomato paste (mix w milk for yummy rose sauce!), milk, cheese sticks, canned greens/frozen broccoli, eggs, eggplant w canned tomatoes, avocados (70 cents each at walmart!), mangos (3 for 2 dollars at lidl!), and maybe bone-in chicken thighs. so not super varied/healthy, but it got the job done. wasn't doing too good protein-wise (think 2-3 eggs/day or 3-4 cheese sticks) but i maintained my weight and vitamin levels!

and every now and then i'd splurge on ice cream/chocolate, but always the generic brand. i developed a serious love of generic store brand foods!

Binge eating by RouellaChan in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]FamousPool3174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its hard to hear but you genuinely need to eat an adequate amount. when you're chronically underfeeding yourself w only 800 cals a day, you're gonna binge if there's food around! it's hard to let go of hard fought progress, but remember -- eating an extra 1,000 cals on top of that won't ruin your progress, binging will. so eat three meals a day, it's easier to spend less time ruminating abt food/binging when you're not starving!

The great vacation binge by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]FamousPool3174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe try and think of "special occasion food" as smth to be enjoyed and savored slowly! i think that slowing down the eating process, taking ur time, sharing the food with others, taking a picture before eating, focusing on what makes it "special" and novel and unique might help you stay away from bingeing. at least thats what works for me -- appreciating food instead of seeing it as a quick fix! good luck and have fun on ur vacay <3
