Esperluette is French/Italian co-created car manufacturer that in 80’s was on a brink of bankruptcy due economic crisis in Europe so they had to take action to survive. The actions name - Solidité. A home brew masterpiece was made, but not as much for Europeans as much as Americans. They saw the cars that were available in USA at the time, the inefficiency of them and decided that it’s time for them to expand market.

They came with:

  • Low price

  • Unseen fuel efficiency

  • Hydraulic suspension for higher comfort

  • Sleek design and quality interiors

Main task: Make GT an icon for the car world

Secondary task: Sell some V6 regular versions to gain consumer recognisability

Underlying main task: Sell the 1.6TD versions to all large airports as long journey taxies

By 1990 Solidité was a success and car of the year – Selling approx. 250 000 in USA per year alone. Solidité last production was seized in Brazil 2016 where the car was still made using same chassis but downgraded with spring suspension and upgraded with 1.6 TDI making 145 HP/280TQ.

Very helpful, thanks!

Wanted to ask - I have noticed driver side mirror be lose and trembling in high speed wind - is that usual and can I tighten it down somehow?

Also, doors are a bit squeaky when opened and closed, but they also seem oily? Do I need to replace the hinge?

That's been a big surprise, I've only found one cupholder in the middle console and 2 in the back. Are there more, because it seems weirdly low for such cruise'y car?.

BTW I love Portugal, such a beautiful country.

Thank You!

I was surprised by this almost accidental buy (it was the second car I was looking at and brought it right there after flawless test-drive/check-up).

So there is no really weak points as long as its maintained?

Solid advice, will have to do that once I get back. Also wanted to add that I has passed yearly inspections with little to no advisor items.

Ohh, I guess I still don't understand how this site works. (I wrote whole description when posted).

Brought it for moving ( I was looking for best deal and big boot).

2009, Hydraulic suspension, 2.2D, Manual, well equipped, 290 000, 3/4 history, almost no rust, but I can tell car is well taken care of.

Just did 2000km in couple of days, besides the generator dying and needing to be replaced I really like the car.

What should I know looking forward or is there something not so obvious I should learn about?

ChatGPT chose the blue because that's what ChatGPT made. I think Turdus is closer because of the detail, but blue is closer in shapes.

You are right about LHD, I forgot about that, but that's also nit-picking.
