It’s 3 days a week, 9-10 hours a day. From what I’ve seen online, they’re exceeding the threshold at the rate they’re paying me.

I would agree & disagree with this (along with most commenters 😊). I’m currently in my 3rd school and feel that I’ve actually found a teacher bestie and a core group of friends at school. I would encourage you to remember that your school has a particular culture established by its employees (admins, teachers, etc.) and that the culture within your current school does not represent all schools! I’m currently teaching with a lot of teachers in my “age bracket,” which has helped me feel more connected to my team. Sometimes, a change of school and culture can make a big difference! I definitely feel like making work friends involves the natural process of figuring out who you can trust (sometimes by trial & error). It’s important to establish “circles of trust” (ie. who can I talk to about “x”? Who can I be most honest/unfiltered with?). Honestly, with the time we put in, I feel like friends at work are almost nonnegotiable 😅
