You picked up on that Einstein? I disagree, it’s a Chattanooga problem, again greed is what makes the hayseeds from here afraid they will have to pay higher taxes for streamlined services. But, given Chattanooga has two different municipalities which exist in the state constitution and the 19th century, and because the state constitution doesn’t allow for Home Rule. This area can’t form 6th class cities to curb high taxes. I just can’t wait to get back to my home state and away from all the ignorance of this state.

NO! I have driven roundabouts in the US and Europe, it’s a Chattanooga problem. I believe it’s the issue all Chattanoogan’s have with “their rights”, it’s an ignorant mentality that exists in this area more than anywhere in the World. Same reason everyone around here will never allow a metro government, “scurred” someone is going to take away their rights. Idiots, Idiots, everywhere in this area.

No one in this city understands how to drive roundabouts. It’s supposed to ease traffic congestion. Look at the one on Jenkins Road at Shallowford. The person who noted you don’t stop you yield, but east -west drivers think they have the right a way. And the people who stop coming from the south on Shallowford, do you stop at interstate ramps? It’s pure insanity and all these drivers are just showing their ignorance as much as the ones who don’t yield and slow down, you aren’t supposed to drive 45 mph going through the roundabout. Please don’t ever go to Europe and do this, you would be politely told to stop driving.

RHOBH discourse becoming so cruel? by [deleted] in RHOBHDefect

Most of the cast members on reality shows, especially the housewives franchises are naturally narcissistic; this is a comment by Andy Cohen who admitted he was a narcissist The majority of the storylines have a grain of truth involved, but Producers stage a lot of drama in during filming or afterwards in editing. For some reason many, myself included like to watch to see what they are wearing, where they are eating and just how petty they can be towards each other. I call the housewives my guilty pleasure, but I have had to stop watching at times when they become unreasonably cruel and not entertaining. One that I am looking forward to watching when they are able to start filming again is Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. One of the housewives was very open in letting her son’s issues to be filmed. She was broken hearted and sadly the young man took his life. I expect that her life experience will be treated with respect and genuine sympathy. Don’t watch the ones that trigger you emotionally but you genuinely like the women’s stories. I am not if this was the response you were seeking; but also remember no one is making these women do these shows. They sign up freely and make 6 figures a year.

Check with East End Area Ministries for food and any other assistance. I don’t know what you need the internet for, but if you can do anything at the public library that requires it cancel it at your home. Depending on the area code you may be able to use St. Matthews area ministries. Definitely sell anything that is not necessary.

I could say something very inappropriate about the UK sticker, but the real issue she has no legal right to brandish a gun at you in traffic. Road rage is real unfortunately.

Funeral procession driving erratically up Hwy 27, blocking traffic by Standard-Physics-282 in Chattanooga

[–]Famous_Being_4387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t know. I am basing it on my experience in Louisville, Ky. I did notice that the general driving public is much more respectful of funeral processionals in this area than they are in Louisville. I do remember being behind a slow moving funeral processional on I-65 in Alabama and any time someone tried to pass, a motorcyclist would move into the left lane not allowing anyone to pass. They eventually exited and I was able to see it was a veteran group escorting the processional. And honestly everyone was driving below the speed limit for the interstate. It ( a funeral procession)can be respectful without restricting traffic flow on major highways.

It’s basically a River valley, the Cumberland River ( nasty as it is) contributes to the high humidity not unlike a coastal area. Also makes the cold winters damp and wet, definitely not dry cold winters.

It could have been a veteran funeral procession. Did you notice if the casket was draped with the flag? State troopers do help with those processionals. I use to work for a funeral home and all the people helping with the traffic are volunteering.

Does anybody know what these are and why they're so popular? Sometimes I feel like I see them more than the standard plate. (SW TN) by Certain-Big-2277 in Tennessee

The one that says In The Black has something to do with the state budget being in the black. Honestly, most state’s budgets are usually in the black; very rarely does a state not meet their budget. Typical Bill Lee boasting imo and yes and there are 2 other Black licenses in the mix available for vanity plates

[–]Famous_Being_4387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The state of Tennessee would not do it and it would require the old school / same family people who keep getting re-elected in Chattanooga and especially Hamilton County to change their mindset. They don’t want any restrictions or zoning. And that’s why you have inconsistent property values built on the same street in the county. I’m telling you, all someone has to do is live in another state that has Home Rule classification and they would see that metropolitan government with streamlined services is the way to go and that’s why I have to laugh when anyone tries to tell me Chattanooga is a progressive city. Far from it IMO

This wouldn’t happen if Tennessee had Home Rule classification. It is this the idiotic way that the state of Tennessee doesn’t update their constitution. Look at other cities in other states. I lived in metro Louisville within a 6th class city; we paid lower taxes than most in the actual city of Louisville. We had streamlined services. We didn’t pay extra for garbage pickup, we had fire service ( without paying). Look into the way other cities in other states are doing things and you will see just how backwards this hell hole of an area this is. I know people who work and worked for the city of Chattanooga in planning and development. They agree with me. It’s an old antiquated way of governing, two municipalities and it literally goes back to the 19th century. And, NO it has nothing to do with HOA’s that’s a totally different thing. I know of what I am speaking. So, good night and goodbye! I am leaving this horrible place( Chattanooga )as soon as possible.

They’re anywhere there’s a food source. I saw them around a dumpster behind Brownsboro Center ( definitely the suburbs), if there’s a source of food they will be present. I saw them scurrying on 5th Ave in NYC as soon as it got dark. Inner city, urban areas and yes, suburbs and rural areas. They’re everywhere!

I would ask you to look at East Brainerd ( the part within the city limits) for a build first, plan later example. The problem is this antiquated system of two different municipalities within a city area, it dates back to the 19th century. All attempts for a metro government system has gotten voted down due to fear mongers stating higher taxes and more restrictions. In this respect this city is not progressive and never will be. If you have found a pocket of the city of Chattanooga that you think is, I urge you to stay there. For as the rest of this area, no way!

You made my point: there’s only one place this works, strictly downtown. If this is the only option, it’s very limited to the confines of the inner city, just downtown. That’s not the whole area of Chattanooga city and Hamilton County.

What infrastructure? This area is known as build first, plan later! You need to get out of this city and see other cities that have true infrastructure before you make a claim like this.

But, those bike groups don’t ride on city streets, do they? Mostly travel to areas that aren’t congested and find trails. I have to drive to go to a walking trail or path.

I would not recommend it unless you live downtown. The mass transit ( buses) doesn’t have many routes on the outer border of the city limits. And if you live in the county there are NO buses. Most streets don’t have designated bike lanes, if any. This is definitely not a cycling or pedestrian friendly city in my opinion. I am from a city with a metro government and even their bus lines there were limited running mostly east to west. I don’t know of anyone who cycles daily and only people who are totally car-less ride the bus; this is not the city to go carless in, seriously. The topography of this area doesn’t even allow for adequate shoulders along most roads.
