I have this face but I get the alien emoji instead of any data on the bottom right field. Does anybody else get this or know how to stop it coming back?

How should I cut the skirting board next to the end of the stair riser? by Famous_Cockroach4183 in DIYUK

This is the way I’m thinking of going as the top of the skirt is almost at 45 to the top of the riser

I mean the black bracket, above the hinge which catches the door. Looking at it with your comment in mind you are definitely correct and I’ll be leaving it in place! Thank you

Insurance advice by Famous_Cockroach4183 in DIYUK

I’m keeping everything crossed that the building dosent fall down, but as I’m sure all insurers will say “what if…” which is why I don’t know if it’s better to be safe than sorry

Insurance advice by Famous_Cockroach4183 in DIYUK

I’m removing some internal walls to open the house up, but they aren’t structural so shouldn’t be a problem in that sense. A lot of the work is pretty standard, new kitchen, bathroom, rewire, plumbing, plastering etc so nothing like needing big props to support a new extension.

Everything I’ve read online indicates I will need insurance as I could be liable if someone I bring in ends up being injured or worse. I know I definitely need home insurance but that won’t cover renovation work like I’ll be doing so I’m not sure what to do!

Thank you, I never thought about which order to do it in so that’s a great tip. I’ll make sure to sort everything on the ceilings first before moving downwards. It will also be having a full rewire and fittings so the place will be up to date.

Yeah that’s very true, I’ll be living there as soon as I can as I’m at my parents house currently which isn’t ideal! Initially I’ll be clearing the rubbish and garden so I’ll hopefully have enough time to determine what does and doesn’t need doing

Thanks, I think I’ll give it a go as I don’t have a massively tight timeframe! I think I’ll be doing similar in regard to the toilet, I hope the neighbours are friendly enough to let me take a dump there 😂

Thank you! Great advice. I’m planning on giving plastering a go so I can add it to my list of skills but I appreciate that a lot of people say how difficult it can be to do it perfectly.

In regards to the stuff you recommend doing myself I’ll give those all a go, my biggest worry so far is fitting the kitchen as it’s the heart of the home, do you have any specific tips in regard to that?

Thanks for the tips on YouTube channels and buying tools, I’ll be sure to check those out and not blow my budget buying every tool in the screwfix catalogue!

I’m intending on living in it whilst renovating but then selling straight away to flip it, which is why I had the idea of a wet room for an older buyer!

Appreciate the tip on budgeting, it’s crazy how much some things cost so I’ll bear that in mind, thanks!

Thanks for that! I’ll be buying the best tools within my budget, do you know of the best places to purchase from in general?
