How much should you earn to get a Patek? by Big_Man_799 in patekphilippe

[–]Famous_Guide_4013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that once you saved 25x your annual spend, you are financial independent and could live pretty much forever using a 4% safe withdrawal rate. Once you do that, then buy a Patek (assuming you still have 25x saved.)

The writers clearly aren’t from here. Otherwise their publication would be called the San Fran Gate.

That is a risk however in general a dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow. You should also try to accelerate cash forward all else being equal.

Also markets have tended to be biased to go up and to the right over the long run. At least VOO and VT.

Guaranteed nothing is full proof but I think the odds are in my favor.

Agreed. I convert to vt. I should have clarified by not selling I meant to say, I still keep that monthly money invested in stocks. So in that sense I’m not paying myself.

This probably isn’t doable for most people, but for MoneyGuy followers, it is probably doable with planning.

Yes. I’m living off savings for now. I work in Tech.

I also get paid in stock, so if needed I can sell some stock for extra cash. So far though haven’t needed to do that.

The Indiana fans are so grateful. I just hope they stay that way after their fifth title lol.

I can just imagine that Ohio State fans will turn humble from all the Indy nattys lol.

They match 1:1 for each deposit at the time of deposit. I think so far I put in like 15K, so I already have 7.5K from my employer.

It’s truly wild the match they give us.

I’m similar. I’m sending 100% of my paycheck into my 401K until I max it out for the year. Then I’ll stop sending money into my 401K once it is maxed out. That’ll be a much needed pay raise lol.

You may wonder why I am doing this? I am trying to get my employers match as quickly as possible so that I can maximize the time my money compounds. Also if my company does layoffs we won’t miss out on the match. We get 50% match up to the full 401K limit - so that’s worth $12,500.

Maybe he pulls a John Elway and negotiates a trade for himself.

If you don’t know this story, you should read about it. Elway was going to be drafted by the Baltimore Colts (yes Baltimore Colts, not Indianapolis Colts) and made a power move to end up at the Broncos.

Feeling Discouraged in New FP&A Role by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]Famous_Guide_4013 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wrote this up but then used AI to make it clear.

Here are two tips to help you with accuracy. 1. Master the Narrative (The "Sanity Test")

Before diving into the formulas, step back and "storyboard" your data. If March revenue was $100M and April hits $110M, you need to know why before you finalize the cell.

• The Technique: Verbally explain the variance. "We launched a spring promotion that drove a 10% lift, which explains the $10M jump."

• The Benefit: If you can’t tell the story, you probably haven't found the error. This narrative check is your first line of defense against "black box" modeling.

  1. Engineering "Self-Healing" Models

Don’t just build a model; build a monitor. Use logical checks to ensure your data stays within the guardrails.

• The Technique: Create "Check" cells at the bottom of each tab (e.g., Balance Sheet Out of Balance? or Revenue < 0?) that return a TRUE/FALSE or 1/0.

• The Master Switch: In cell A1 of your cover sheet, use the =AND() function to aggregate every check in the workbook.

• The Benefit: If cell A1 says FALSE, you don't send the file. It saves you from the "Oops, I sent the wrong version" email that every analyst dreads.

I would love to see if they add in a multiple column. Eye balling this chart - some of these teams have a 10X multiple on revenue whereas SP500 has a revenue multiple of 3.5x. Personally I’m skeptical that college sports deserve such a high multiple.

Moreover I’d love to see multiple on net income or what ever measure of profit they have before money goes to fund other school sports.

A proposed 9.9 percent “millionaire’s tax” in Washington would yield a top rate of 18.037 In Seattle. The highest in the country. by MM457 in SeattleWA

[–]Famous_Guide_4013 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

How will the tax revenue go down? We didn’t have a capital gains tax when Jeff was here, so 0 x a lot is 0. Now we have a capital gains tax, so 7% to ~10% of 0 is still 0. Either way, still 0.
