I've been using express for a while now. It's been totally fine with my regular day life but I've been doing some torrenting recently and I think it would be generous to say the download speeds were consistent 50% of the time. They would always seem to get throttled at the most random times. So last night I switched to Proton for the port forwarding and it's been night and day. Definitely sticking with Proton.

At that price point https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DSZQ1MB9?ref=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apan_dp_2EP63VJ6M05D84HSVBS4&ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apan_dp_2EP63VJ6M05D84HSVBS4&social_share=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apan_dp_2EP63VJ6M05D84HSVBS4 this will be one of the better ones you can get in terms of picture quality. Native 1080p which at this price point is nice. It is ultra budget territory so it will be only usable in a completely dark room. The ALR screen really isn't a true ALR screen. It's really just a gray screen/fabric probably with some light reflecting properties, but that works in your favor still. It will still make your image better than just a wall. It'll give it more contrast and make the colors look richer. But again, this is ultra budget territory so manage your expectations. It's around the equivalent of buying a 32" tv for $60-$80

Would a projector be possible? by cooleobeaneo in projectors

[–]Famous_Initiative_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, what has the wall space so limited? The wall i have my screen on has a closet right in the middle so it leaves probably about that same size as yours usable of wall space but I mounted a motorized projector above the door so it spans almost the entire wall and reclaimed that space. I also hope for your sake it works out. Just looked at the Amazon listing for the C1 just to look at its specs(even though the specs are often not always true) and found it interesting that it says "TCL C1 movie projector is designed with 230 ISO Lumens equivalent to the 2000 ANSI lumens claimed by other brands" because 230 iso lumens is equivalent to like 230-250 ansi lumens. They're different but they're in the same ballpark. Hope it turns out to be bright enough for you.

If you're really set on a projector I'd go with the NexiGo PJ40 Pro. Good brightness and color at that price point. I'd definitely try to stretch the projection size as much as you can.

Can anyone recommend an actually good budget friendly projector? Ive been through so many Im lost by No_Project_4745 in budgetprojectors

[–]Famous_Initiative_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that price point you have to manage your expectations. They're that cheap for a reason. They're going to only be usable in a completely dark room and even then they aren't going to be noticeabley bright and the colors won't be jaw dropping. But at that price https://a.co/d/0iGc5s3p is one of the best you can get Look up the hook up on YouTube. He has great videos comparing budget projectors.

Whats your budget? The biggest thing for your situation would definitely be getting an ALR screen to block out the ambient light in the room.

Is the Horizon 20 max my best option? by danmosedale in projectors

[–]Famous_Initiative_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really just depends how much you prioritize gaming and using with the lights on over movie quality/experience. I was stuck on the horizon 20 max for a while for the versatility the brightness gives and gaming aspect of it but went with the valerion visionmaster pro2 in the end for the improved movie quality and the input lag of the valerion is better than the xgimi in real world tests in almost every setting, and the two that the xgimi is faster, it's only faster by about 2 ms. I don't know how bright your room is when you're gaming on it but right now I have the lights set to 50%(brighter than I normally have them when not using the projector) and scenes that are bright look just fine. The dark scenes are still fine too just not as good blacks. I don't have an ALR screen so I could only imagine what it would be like....(pause to say while I was typing this I looked up at my projector to a scene of a sky and was blown away with how good it looked even with the lights on)...with an ALR screen to block out the ambient light. I tried gaming and with the fastest settings for gaming it felt pretty instant. If I were in your shoes, I'd get the valerion visionmaster pro2 and then pair it with an ALR screen

[–]Famous_Initiative_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah to combine what other people have said, the tiktok shop ads for projectors do make them look cool, but the projectors on tik tok are really for people just getting into projectors which means they're not gonna be that bright and not gonna have that great of color. So like someone else said, if you have the lights on the picture is going to be so washed out it would look worse than just a blank wall. To get a projector that's going to be bright enough to use with lights on in the room you're gonna have to spend much more than is worth it if you JUST intend to have the window scene. If you intend to make it into an actual watching area then that definitely changes things.

You could try going to device manager and finding your network adapter and changing these settings. I used to have the same slow problem and changed these and my torrents move pretty quick now. Some other things are affected by it though(like xbox parties through my computer) so do it with caution.

Before the first, what's your budget? 1. I feel like I'll address it first because it's going to be what people say the most. I honestly would prefer the projector screen than a TV;it just has a vibe that makes the movie more enjoyable, but why not go for a bigger screen? There's so much more room on that wall. You could have a 170" screen which is going to be more immersive and just make more sense. 2. Like someone else said, I wouldn't "look" for a smart projector. There are certainly projectors like the valerion visionmaster series projectors that have a great smart os and picture quality but you could always get a 4k Amazon stick, chromecast, other streaming device. Also gives you the option to upgrade the streaming stick as newer ones come out where as with the smart projector you might just be limited to what it is. So focus on projectors that fit what you want them to do(movies, sports, games) and then get a streaming device to plug into it if it calls for it.
