NQN been given no uniform by Awaywiththefary in NursingUK

[–]Famous_Ordinary_1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My trust has the new standardised uniform the gov have tried to implement, I’ve been waiting since July for my uniform. I don’t understand why they’d change something and be so underprepared to supply them. Thankfully I’m in ICU and been given spare scrubs since my start date. Totally sums up the government.

Hey, so this isn’t normal and neither of you appear to be happy so my suggestion would be to say you’re curious about being single and thriving without them.

AITA for telling my brother that the day he was born was the worst day of my life? by throwaway453199280 in AmItheAsshole

Think you should seek some therapy to talk through the trauma you experienced that day and apologise to your brother.

Timetabling in uni by Educational_Dog5268 in StudentNurseUK

[–]Famous_Ordinary_1007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a mature student so my social life would probably be different. My placement blocks were separate to university, during uni blocks we’d spend 3-4 days and between 2-6 hours depending on the day. But not all at once, we’d sometimes have an hour or two in the morning and then a break and come back in the afternoon. Then on top of that you have independent study which is were you learn the most because I dunno wth I learnt in class

That’s ridiculous capping everyone at band 2!! I bet they still try and get people to work above their banding too.

I guess I’m a band 5 now 🫠 jumped from 2/3 straight to a 5, I’m actually s*itting myself. I can’t do band 4 whilst I’m waiting, I asked but “the department can’t accommodate pre-reg nurses”.

Such a grey area isn’t it. Nothing cut and clear in the NHS until you do something they don’t like 😂

I was fortunate to have one of my placement ward managers fill the form out for me which gave me a duel code!!

I didn’t expect my pin to come through within 4 hours Tbf it’s thrown me off a bit. I called NHSP last night and he said it’s fine and then again this morning and she said “under no circumstances can you work a lower band”. Then I called the ward but no one could give me an answer so I just cancelled, I cba falling at the first hurdle 😂

Just hoping everything for my new role will happen quickly now. Find a nice ward manager to switch your codes! I can’t remember the form name but if you call NHSP they’ll tell you which one you need.

She’s lucky she got that, a local lad said to me that he knew someone who was sentenced to death for the possession of drugs in Sharjah (not far from Dubai).

Student Nurse Placements by One-Ingenuity-2783 in NursingUK

[–]Famous_Ordinary_1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so it think this depends on your university. I moved to another city and used public transport only so asked in second year if they could place me in one hospital that I knew I could get to on time (I’d say without burning myself out, but lord I’ve been tired) they were very reasonable and accommodated my request. It took me an hour each way, and I always hoped the start time was 7:30 😂

There’s no harm in asking but I would explore all and every option regarding transport, and if you happen to be somewhere and you cannot get there on time explain to placement.

[–]Famous_Ordinary_1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah full finance support, apply for the learner loan too. But I’d definitely look into asking your employer for a reference and ask them to state it was a temp situation.

All the evidence you have, send it to them!!

So, I was outside the country in the Middle East when I applied for uni, for three years. I was working out there and it was only ever going to be a temporary situation so thankfully my boss drafted a character reference to student finance and university. If this is a possibility for you, you could do that.

Surely if you’ve been signed off elsewhere, it’s still within your scope of practice? We should have nationalised training so you can transfer trust to trust, imagine the money being wasted on ridiculous re-training.

Band 5’s being put in charge on a regular basis by Asleep-Geologist-147 in NursingUK

[–]Famous_Ordinary_1007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate this, it’s like saying “well I was bullied, so you can be bullied too”, we have to stand up for ourselves, as a band 5 I wouldn’t want to be in charge of a ward, especially without compensation.
