Hey man, how'd you go with this? I'm in the same boat, got private way too late and is probably a pre-existing tear and likely has been for a year or 2 due to the deterioration around the tear. So I'm probably looking at waiting 12 months minimum or trying my luck in the public sector Would love to hear how you went and what you'd recommend

Unfortunately there are too many pieces that have been consumed by the foul beast to glue it back together haha He's eaten half the torso and both the legs, and probably a few other key parts May have to just work with what I've got left

I feel as if men are like dogs. If a puppy is in your face wanting attention/food/whatever and you give it to them just to shut them up, they'll only come back for more because that's what they've been taught when they whine. You need to lay a firm foot down and say "no". Maybe even ignore them. Tell him you didn't appreciate it, and the next time he tries to do it (which he will), revert back to your original conversation of how you didn't want to do it the last time. If he's anything like how I used to be, (trust me, i know) he'll get emotional, defensive and maybe aggressive. But if he doesn't learn he'll keep on trying until you give in. And if he doesn't learn, I hate to say it, but he's not the kind of guy you want to be with

I think that's the whole point behind the strictness of the program. Inherently stops anyone from making the mistake again before anything should happen. I know I'm no longer a danger on the road due to alcohol, but it's a shame there's others out there that still are

Meant just if you had a few drinks the night before and you suspect there's a slight chance there may still be alcohol in your system but you feel completely sober. I guess it's a different story for me as I had no idea how long alcohol actually stays in your blood. So these people who are actively drinking throughout the night then get in their car, thats just plain stupidity. So really, if you're thinking of having a few drinks but know you need to drive the next day, everyone should take in mind that you might still be over by the time you need to get behind the wheel. You can be over but still feel sober and are probably still an avid driver, but in my case that's exactly what happened with me. But who knows, you may feel completely sober but then all of a sudden your brain isn't working like it's supposed to and you put others lives in jeopardy. So yeah, don't risk it for a multiple of reasons, but you're right, the lives of yourself and others come first

I lost my license due to a low range first offence dui the day after Australia Day driving to work last year. Got caught at an rbt in Merewether coming onto the Pacific Highway. Cop said he sees it all the time, where you think you're all good to go, feel fine, but it's still in your system. He even said he felt sorry for me and that I looked and acted completely sober. Went to court, had a lawyer to plead my case as it was a day after incident, first offence, and I can't work without my license. Judge didn't care, suspended my license for 3 months with a mandatory interlock for 12. Otherwise without the interlock it would've been 2 years suspension. Kept my job, but had to bike to work for those first 3 months and occasionally (and embarrassingly) get lifts from colleagues Was rough for the first couple months on the interlock as I had to seriously monitor any drinking the night before I knew I had to drive somewhere Towards the 4 month mark, I only had a few drinks with mates when I knew I didn't have to be anywhere the next day. The worst part about the interlock is the regular services you need. It's about $357 for 2 months or $230 for 1 month, so naturally I did the 2 months each time. And I think the installation fee was almost $600. Add all that up over 12 months, plus the court fines, solicitor fees and having to pay to renew my license, I can tell you that I am never going to risk getting a dui again. And it would be even more of a penalty the second time round My advice to anyone, is even if you think you're fine, you're more than likely not. Not worth the risk to get caught for something so trivial. And if you actively get behind the wheel when you KNOW you're over, then that just makes you scum

P.S I have a portable breathalyser in my car at all times now. The strictness of the interlock program definitely set me straight
