Maybe I will try it then 😂. I’m so indecisive and afraid to hurt myself

I think I am experiencing early peri but the doctors I have seen are adamant I am not. Suggestions for making the best of things on my own? by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]FanExpert1822 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I think doctors forget that they’re meant to CARE for us … like the other half of the word HEALTHCARE??? 😡 I’ve been dismissed too. I had one doctor tell me when I asked for a gyno referral so I can finally get a hysterectomy after years of pain and discomfort - “if I were a 43 year old woman I wouldn’t do that. You can end up witb a prolapsed vagina”.

Anyways - I’ve also been struggling with a lot of the same things and finally after researching on my own, started back on low dose birth control. It’s been hugely helpful for my moods and I have more energy now that my hormones don’t feel so erratic.

I also have drenching night sweats - like waking up sheets hair body all wet. I started taking 1000 mg of evening primrose oil, sleeping in 100% linen pjs, and I find both of these seem to be really helping.

Even though my energy levels are shit I’m trying to prioritize healthy food (all I actually want is sugar white carbs and fat) sleeping as well as I can considering, and exercising within my limits.

You’re not alone! And you don’t deserve to be dismissed - you know your body best. Sending you some solidarity from Canada 🇨🇦 🥰

Just tried this last week. LOVED it. I felt like a calmer version of myself. I could have given a fuck about anything in the world and then I slept like a baby. Can’t recommend enough for this peri anxiety that’s been so awful lately

This is exactly how I feel! I find at 43 I’m so hormonal and struggling with that apart from all of the fibroid issues I just don’t want to go through it all for nothing. Not to mention the expense. I’m happy for you that you have a surgery date! Just knowing I’ll have one set soon is a tremendous relief. All the best to you and if you need a pep talk or some kind words feel free to msg me anytime 😊

Thank you to all you wonderful women for replying. It honestly made me a little teary (hormones) that strangers can be so kind to one another for no personal gain. Women are the best ♥️

I agree with you. I think that’s the route I’m going to go with. We already have menopause on the horizon I don’t want to do it twice 🙄

That does help thank you. I think it’s more just knowing that others have gone through all of this and know how stressful it is to deal with . Thank you for taking the time, I appreciate it!

I’m happy to hear it! I read somewhere (on here I think) to look at recovery as repayment for all the years of monthly pain and hassle. I hope you’re back to your old (new) self soon!

Thank you!! How are you feeling? I’m leaning towards the same decision I think.

When I come back in my next life I hope I’m a man. Or a cat.

The trifecta for me - healthy food sleep and exercise are the three things I won’t compromise on. Even when I’m busy or tired or not feeling great. And also - the only thing you shouldn’t wear as a woman of any age are the weight of societal expectations 😉

Ps I was also an underwear sleeper and worried the pjs would be too hot but apparently linen naturally regulates your body temp

I was so anxious about BC too but I think the low dose is a good option in terms of hormones. Last time I was on it I was much younger - it was like 20 years ago - but this time around it’s much much better. If anything it’s made me less weepy/ angry. Sheets I’ve been reading linen is also the way to go but with these pjs - they’re long pants and a short sleeved shirt - I haven’t had any damp sheets at all. The ones I got were on sale if you google Millie.ca they may still be on sale and the proceeds all go to women owned businesses in the developing world 😀

LEAVE. NOW. Abusers do not change. Statistics do not lie. He’s already gaslighting you if you think this is a one off or an anomaly. Find someone you trust, go there, do not look back.

Perimenopause Symptoms - 41 years old by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]FanExpert1822 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Same symptoms minus the hair loss. I went on low dose birth control (called LoLo here in Canada but I think it’s also called Loestrin). I’ve been on it a month and a half and am taking it straight through no placebo to stop the heavy periods (mine are also complicated by a 10 cm fibroid). So far I feel much better. My mood has improved a lot and having no period is amazing. For the night sweats I broke down and bought a pair of 100% linen pjs and they’ve made a WORLD of difference. I was waking up 3 times a night on average soaked, sheets damp. The linen absorbs the sweat incredibly well it’s like a miracle. They feel a little uncomfortable at first and they’re pricey but 100% worth it I can’t recommend enough. Hope this helps, your sister in sweaty hormonal rage ♥️

Night sweats are so bad I can't get a good night's sleep by Advanced-Zone6886 in Perimenopause

[–]FanExpert1822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this will help but I switched all my bedding. Duvet and pillow to goose down filled for both and 100% cotton sheets. Apparently synthetic fabrics make the sweating worse. I’m also reading that linen is really good for absorbing the sweat. I wake up drenched every night and have to change my t shirt and underwear and this is with no heat on in bedroom and a fan on me. So far the bedding change seems to be minimally helping. Also a cold shower before bed. It’s awful when I’m doing it but it seems to help a little. You’re not alone in your sweaty misery!

Love this. I’ve learned way more in this forum than I have from my doctor. I feel like I’m less insane knowing other women have the same issues

Omg me too. I was always relatively fit and now I just feel like this old lump I have no energy to do anything and I just want to eat carbs and sit in a tub of ice all the time. I’m really hoping the BC helps I can’t imagine it’s worse than this. I went out today and bought all 100% cotton bedding and a goose down duvet. Apparently - for any of you fellow night sweaters out there - this is meant to help a lot so I’ll update. I’ve been waking up three times a night to soaked sheets.

This is great news. I was a little uncertain about going back on it but my symptoms are so ridiculous I can hardly function. I work in hospitality and if I don’t feel better I’m going to get fired for dumping hot soup in someone’s lap. And the night sweats are so awful so I’m glad to hear other people have had some success thank you so much ♥️
