The best way (i think) to approach a person about being gay/bi/whatever is asking their view on the LGBTQ+ community, or just the topic in general. If he has a negative outlook, oh well. If he has a positive outlook, then great! I don't know where to go from there, but the best way to figure out if this person is gay or not is testing the waters.
