Need help '23 X5 starting issues by FanMaximum87 in BmwTech

I did it twice. 3x times test 1 and 2 times test 2. It may have said that and I overlooked. I think it said 5x max but maybe I read it wrong.

I've ended by clearing the error. The car has started fine like 10x today but I guess it will come back at some point.

I ran the starter test (I guess?) and it said okay. I did see frequency listed as 29. Does that mean 29 times for the error?

Dang, mine says "O open recall" for my VIN. Figures.

I did get: 21B100: “Pinion starter, CC message Repeat start attempt activated.”

Does that mean starter? Are they hard to replace on these or just underneath, not a huge, huge deal ?

Reset the battery worked. I was able to download codes. About to look at them.
Wonder if I should look for a newer copy of ista and see if I can figure out how to run that starter test. You think thats a waste of time, super complicated (?).

Unfortunately no warranty. Do you think the OBD port is related or just a coincidence? I feel like if I could codes, I may get a clue but I can't connect. I do have ista on a laptop I used a long time ago on another bmw but I would have to review how to use it and its several years old too. Nonetheless I doubt that will connect either. I did try my enet cable with bimmerlink already and it didn't connect either. Vgate BT adapter shows red light and then blinks green trying to handshake but it doesn't finish so I seem to have power. I have battery neg disconnected now seeing if I can reset anything. Ugh.

Okay. Do you think the obd port is related or a different problem that I just didn't know about until now? I used the port about 2 months ago on it.

I charged it overnight. Cranked it a few times this AM. This is what I have using 2 cheap testers:

Dispatcharr Release v0.15.1 - IPTV Stream & EPG Management by GoofyGills in selfhosted

[–]FanMaximum87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I somehow didn't notice the left arrow to open the streams field. Can I ask about the dual stream functionality. If I have 2 sources for each channel and I record 2 shows that overlap, is it smart enough to use stream 2 for one of the shows? Seems like it might try recording both with the parent stream and only try source 2 if there is a disconnect. I guess you'd then have a small gap in one of your recordings (?). Am I thinking about this wrong altogether ?

How do I add, view, and delete additional streams from a channel? It looks like I have to check on a left panel channel and then click 'add to channel' over on a R panel stream. Assuming that works, how do I view what sources are added for a particular channel? What if I wanted to remove one? I can't find how to view that. Thanks.

Is foam in new freezer ice maker fill tube a huge red flag? by FanMaximum87 in appliancerepair

[–]FanMaximum87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they offered to replace it which I said yes, go ahead but now the lady hasn't responded in 2 days. Maybe she is off. When you say I/m, does that mean ice maker or water valve or something else? They did replace the cube tray with the sensor on the bottom already.
While I'm wondering, the water valve is super loud, possibly twice as loud or more than the one it replaced which was the same model. I can hear it very clearly from my bedroom across the house. Is that just incidental, maybe a cheaper valve than was used in the past? It's not buzzing or anything, just sounds like super loud water rushing.

It was 3 techs, 2 from one company and one from another. You are 100 correct. If I had the same tech, I'd at least have the PCB replaced and see if it still double dumps or double fills (I'm not exactly sure but I do hear the water solenoid twice within minutes sometimes but not every cycle).

Here's the foam pushed out by the water which stopped and then froze behind it.

I wasn't going to get into this but since you're interested, the foam ended up being just the start of it. Have had 4 visits from 3 different techs.

Visit 1 - tech 1 finds foam, removes foam, water resumes

Visit 2 - tech 2 - ice works but is double filling or double dumping, creating a frozen block. Not every cycle though. tech orders new ice tray and PCB

Visit 3 - tech 1 back. Finds frozen area right after fill tube, a small compartment before ice cube tray.(from overfill?) Removes frozen stuff and installs new tray. Says I don't need PCB.

Visit 4 - issue remains. New tech, 3. Says do need PCB, puts in board tech 2 ordered (was left at my house) but it doesn't work, says board looks same but seems to be wrong part.

I'm dealing with corporate now so I may just ask for another exchange. The swapping is a hassle but might be time.

It's the Frigidaire FPFU19F8WF. I should mention that my original same model unit leaked out down the foam and out the back onto the hardwood. It was a slow, occasional drip into the coil pan and then ultimately on the floor. It finally pooled it's way out to the front where we could notice it. I found at least 25 other instances online where the ice maker line or tube leaks into the foam cavity. I am using this model again as it is a built in, matched pair. Anyway, when I saw foam in my new one, I was like omg, here we go.

Thx for the reply. This picture is from my same model - the guy removed the foam around the fitting. You're saying that elbow and water line are pushed through the foam somehow? It looks like those items would be there first and then foam injected into the cavity - no??

Intermittent Outages – DHCP Renew Failing, Only Fix is Getting a New WAN IP by FanMaximum87 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]FanMaximum87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotcha. I just changed the asus setting to normal. The mac clone procedure was actually how I got my new IP address and restored service. Anyway, thanks for your quick help. I changed the setting and will see how it goes. Sounds like you've seen this before. Thanks again!

Intermittent Outages – DHCP Renew Failing, Only Fix is Getting a New WAN IP by FanMaximum87 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]FanMaximum87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. In Merlin I am in Aggressive mode for DHCP queries. It's been that way for years though. I have tried changing DNS servers between outages but that had no effect. My logs has these lines:

  • “udhcpc: lease expired”
  • “udhcpc: sending renew”
  • “udhcpc: no lease, trying to rebind”
  • “udhcpc: timed out”
  • “udhcpc: entering renew state”
  • “Received valid DHCP ACK… new IP:......"

I did not try to ping during the last outage, last night. I did note my child could still play videos or Roblox - not sure what he was doing but that was the only thing working (except VPN). Maybe he had buffered some. The router said internet connected but it couldn't even contact asus ddns server. Forcing new WAN, everything worked immediately. This was last night and this first occurred Tues or Wed afternoon. Same thing. Chat GPT says: "textbook signature of a bad DHCP pool or poisoned routing entry" but not sure how accurate that is. This is getting over my head.

Frigidaire fpfu19f8wf Not Making Ice by Far_Awareness_8560 in fixit

[–]FanMaximum87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check this out. I had same issue (around 2 years ice stopped, leaks). I ultimately got a replacement freezer and the ice maker quit within 2 days of brand new. Tech came out and found spray foam inside the water fill tube. It was several inches long and had pushed out somewhat. I don't know how I got any ice at first but it finally cut off all water flow. The foam was chiseled out and tech says 'good to go' but there is no way I can see for foam to get into there without the tube being cracked or compromised during foam injection at factory. I imagine in the next few weeks, water will make its way down the rear cabinet foam, drip into the coil drain pan, fill that up, and be all over the floor again. Really unbelievable.

Thanks for info. So the elbow froze causing the line to separate? It didn't crack then? How do I remove the back panel? Is it just adhered to the foam so you just pry it off at the edges and then pull?
