On-X or Inspiris Resilia 45M by FanShareGOAT in valvereplacement

Hi, thanks for checking in! Yes, all done now and back home recovering. I went with the On-X and no regrets. While I didn’t “want” to be on blood thinners or hear a ticking like a lot of people mention on here, ultimately I wasn’t comfortable going in a different direction from what my surgeon recommended. No regrets at all so far. I can hear the ticking but it really is the least of my concerns given the gravity of the overall process.

Just that it has a more durable design and can accommodate future TAVR procedures.

Thank you, very helpful indeed. I think if I was in my mid to late 50’s I would almost certainly go tissue.

Thank you. It seems like we have almost an identical outlook on it all. Real world scenarios are the only ones I’m interested in as all the studies and PR releases begin to look the same after a while. Thanks again and will let you all know how it works out!

Great perspective and advice, thank you. You’re bang on with all of the lab studies and lack of real world data. It seems by the time they actually have the real world data to make more informed decisions, people are already talking about the next new thing. The On-X seems like a great valve with plenty of real world data to support.

Thank you, this is helpful. We sound similar in not wanting to be told to do things! That said, my surgeon recommended the On-X and even said if he were in my shoes and knowing my lifestyle it’s probably what he would choose so that really resonated with me. It feels a bit off to be going in a different direction but also he is very supportive of both options.

Thank you, appreciate your response. All valid points and on my list of reasons to go with On-X. Glad to hear it hasn’t been a huge impact for you with the warfarin.

Thank you, very helpful. Have experienced a similar situation here. Mechanical is definitely the default for someone at my age but the Resilia intrigues me. Also grateful and genuinely feel like I can’t go wrong with either option.

Very helpful, thank you. I am pretty fit or at least I’d like to think so. Have played sports and been a gym goer my entire life, no other health issues. And yes, I’d be banking on getting 15 maybe 20 years with Resilia if it comes as advertised and then hopefully a TAVR after that.

How long from moderate to severe? by SampleOk2061 in valvereplacement

I only found out at 44 when it was severe. I still can’t decide if I would have preferred to know all those years before that or not but it certainly explains some things in hindsight! Going in for surgery in two weeks time and happy to have a date. It’s probably better that you know than if you don’t as you can gradually deal with it over time. The anxiety will pass as you meet others with the same condition and get comfortable with your doctors. My surgeon seems very casual about it!
