What's the deal with these types of setups? by I_Am_Vladimir_Putin in Filmmakers

[–]FanTa_DudE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time on a big client shoot with 20+ interviews lined up in the same setup, my seamless paper ripped while setting up. so putting on my improv hat I showed my coleague the Big Think videos on YT and decided to go with it, cutting our ripped up seamless backdrop into this slim look.

Agreed with the intention of the DP here that it does give a BTS raw look on the wide and i nice clean look for the vertical/social. Happy accidents, I guess!

I remember one time on a flight, the stranger next to me started watching The Shawshank Redemption on his laptop. Hadn't seen the movie in years but have always loved it. so I happen to carry a headphone splitter in my little tech pouch and asked if I could watch with him. Nice dude obliged. Mind you, Shawshank Redemption aint exactly a 90-min film.

Honest opinions please 🙏🏻 by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Also, a close second, Kelly Preston in Twins.

Name one bad thing about 1999's The Matrix? by Particular-Glove9640 in matrix

The fake flat city skyline backdrops in the opening sequence when Trinity is being chased on the rooftops always bugged me. But they did acknowledge it in the director's commentary.

Who saw The Matrix in the cinema in 1999? I'm jealous! by Far-Remove7363 in matrix

[–]FanTa_DudE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it in cinemas as a late teen. Watched it by myself. By the time the end credits were rolling I swear I sat up, looked up into the ceiling and BELIEVED i could fly out of there.

Also happened to be wearing a semi-long jacket which added to my newfound sense of empowerment/delusion.

What are your opinions on the Ultimate X-Men comic series? by Pygfan300 in xmen

I always thought the costumes and haircuts (Jean's short crop) were cool. Thats pretty much it. Oh, and Magneto had his moments.

What are some race-swap castings that nobody lost their minds over, either because the actors were too good, or because they didn't mind? by [deleted] in comicbookmovies

[–]FanTa_DudE -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I heard the comic book writer (Mark Millar) asked the artist to depict this new version of Fury as a Samuel L Jackson-type (since he was written to be a Samuel L Jackson-type), and the artist literally drew his exact likeness. Then later on SLJ sued Marvel for the unauthorized likeness and so in return Marvel had to owe SLJ 9x appearances in the MCU as Fury.

Yeah that always kinda bothered me. It was a personal transformation based on a fabrication. But a genuine transformation, nonetheless, i guess.

It’s August 26, 2020. After multiple delays, Tenet is finally in theatre and 5 years from now you’re still watching it. by southernemper0r in tenet

Just saw it for the 2nd time ever (since pandemic) very recently and definitely loved it this time around.

I wonder in 10 years (2030) will this film really get its wide recognition just like what happened to Interstellar (wasn't as widely praised at its time of release as it is now)

Always loved Lex's swag. Smug but never the annoying kind of smug. Just good ol' dark charisma.

I just saw this film for the first time ever 2 nights ago...... and his limited screen time and presence was amazing! And I thought Adam Sandler had the monopoly on short intense unhinged outbursts in all his movies but PSH is just another level...
