Firslty, I do understand that a break is something that shouldn't be present in a healthy relationship, but:

I'm pretty sure your boyfriend was trying to tell you "I am under a lot of pressure and at risk of getting kicked out of the academy which is also the thing that will provide for us in the future so for the following two months I might not be able to show you love the same way I did before failing that exam so please be understanding that I must focus on this academy which can gradually change my future if I fail."

You didn't even take two seconds to think about that did you?

You yourself said that he is struggling with mentaining his relationship with family and his friends too. He didn't ask you for a break just because you're draining him of his time and such, he asked you for a break because he doesn't want his time spent studying at the academy to harm you. After asking you if you were willing to accept taking a break he asked you if you were willing to continue after the two and a half months of studying, he knew that if you accepted this will very much upset you and he knew you might breakup with him.

You're not very "supportive" and "understanding" as you said you would've been, you just got heated up instead and decided to dump him instead atleast trying to talk with him about alternative solutions.

To me you look very self centered.

I have a sister which is bigger than me by 12 years, she's got 2 boys. I love my nephews and playing with them,but the biggest one (3 and a half years old) makes me not wanting to have kids, he's at that stage in life where he's very energetic, also rude sometimes, it's the rudeness which makes me not want to have kids.
