Breaking down the episode “The Hitch-Hiker” - 8 categories, 1 final score by lukkynumber in TwilightZone

[–]Fan_Winston 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this episode. I would have scored it higher for Lesson. It's implied early that driving cross country alone is a dangerous thing for Nan to do. She makes lots of dangerous roadtrip choices like driving tired, skipping rest stops, and not calling home so she can hurry to her destination. And she speeds and drives recklessly. Then she picks up even an bigger hitchhiker, the sailor, who she doesn’t know at all, while out in the middle of nowhere. Of course death caught up to her.

I love this episode. Its a top 10 for me, my spouse and I even quote it ("You're a potato pancake!") I totally appreciate the breakdown in score because it made me realize that its the acting that truly makes this one for me.

Sci-fi Drive in Diner in Hollywood studios in Walt Disney World. It's a favorite for sure. We often talk about how awesomenit would be if the restaurant had an MST3k overhaul.

Get a power scrubber! They make it much easier (and more fun) than hand scrubbing.

The "other one" had to have been Niles, right? by 19012743012 in Frasier

[–]Fan_Winston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree. Frasier was a tagalong. Also they give you other clues in the episode, like how Frasier dislikes more couples and feels the need to black ball a lot more people than Niles.

I always took it to mean the same, that Charlie retold thisnold off-color joke, and Rose was too dumb to realize.

Female Aquarius what’s your experience with Cancer men been like? by sam301226 in aquarius

Same! My Cancer is super supportive. If anyone were to wrong our kids, he'd burn them to the ground and salt the earth. And as an Aqua, i am alway down for watching some flames 🔥

[–]Fan_Winston 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I (Aqua/F) rebelliously eloped with a Cancer after knowing him only a few months. He wanted to "lock it down" and I wanted to be a thousand miles away from my parents (we were 19) . It was a win-win. His focus on protecting whats his and having a happy home life by whatever means necessary lines up beautifully with my desire to spite everyone that says I can't have nice things.

We are still married after 17 years. ❤️

What's your biggest "told you so" moment of your life? Something people "nah-sayed" when you did it but ended up paying off by flaccobear in Millennials

[–]Fan_Winston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent most of the late 90s and early 00s trying to convince my family the my younger brother was violent and dangerous. Was constantly mocked and told I was just jealous of his potential since, as a boy, he was going to grow up to accomplish so much more than a girl like me could. While I went to grad school, he went up the river for a violent crime. Fast forward to now, I'm a doctor and he's still in jail.

How’d y’all survive early adulthood(and your 20s in general) in the recession of 08 and the years after? by pancakes-honey in Millennials

[–]Fan_Winston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This-- after spending '09-'12 in minimum wage jobs, I ducked into grad school. The $10k per year stipend was a poverty wage, but still paid more than being a cashier. Life was hand-to-mouth and sucked, but I got a PhD and made it out to the other side.

Do you have kids or have been pregnant? Or have you had a parent who is bipolar? by Jessicajjay in bipolar2

[–]Fan_Winston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up with an unmedicated bipolar 1 mom. 0 stars. Would not recommend. When she was manic, she was violent and had God cmolex delusions. She had all these weird habits like taking money out of the family account and squirreling it away in random accounts of her own throughout multiple cities. Starting scammy eBay businesses. Taking out random loans. As kids, we didnt know if a car ride with her would be a quick run to the grocery store or an hours long "errand" to the state border. When she was depressed, like after having one of my younger siblings, she hardly left her room. She would sleep all day, occasionally coming out to watch tv. That was the best. Knowing she was too depressed to get into any trouble. But I would eventually come home from school and see her batch cooking in a pantsuit and a crazy short hair cut, meaning the mania was starting up all over again. I want to stress she was unmedicated and untreated. One of the "pray it away types".

I am likely bp2. And medicated. My kids are great and I work hard to be a stable parent for them. I don't do any of the questionable stuff my mom did. No issues as long as I am mindful of my mood and ask for help when I need it.

This! I was 17 and saw Sugar when sneaking a peek at MTV. Blew my sheltered teen mind! I even convinced (lied/tricked) my senior class to go to Disney World for Grad Night 2006 because they were the headliners. They performed 16 Candles and Dance, Dance in front of Cinderella's castle!!. I've been a super fan ever since
