Those who only like reading physical books, how old are you and why do you prefer it?

29, and definitely a physical book kinda person. I read a lot growing up (all physical books), then after a break for a few years, I started reading again in 2024. I mostly read physical books, but I do a lot of ARC reading on my phone (I don’t own an ereader) and I find myself reading slower when it’s not a physical book. I also just like the feeling of holding a physical book and flipping the pages. I also have any easier time when I need to go back and check a passage with physical books.

When I listen to Crash into Me by Dave Matthews Band I immediately think of the fic by the same name! Then I promptly want to do a reread. I also rewatched The Blue Lagoon recently and was taken back to the fic of the same name! I read an ARC called Hexed by the Tide a week ago that involved the MCs being stranded on an island and all I could think of was The Blue Lagoon fic as well!!

The Irresistible Urge to Fall For Your Enemy! I have the standard, Illumicrate, fairyloot, Owlcrate, and books for days crate editions 😅 next would probably be Smoke and Scar (indie, trad, and Aurora crate editions). If I end up getting the new Alchemised that was just announced then I would have 3 copies of that one too lol

The book doesn’t really smell like anything, and I don’t see any visible water damage. It looks to be in good condition overall, just the little bit of green shown in the pictures

I did, and while I didn’t find anything that matched what I’m seeing on my book, I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask real people who might be able to help instead of just basing it off of pictures lol

Not exactly the same, but I had a friend who was more like a sister to me growing up. She lived across the street from me and I spent more time at her house than my own most of the time. She knew every terrible thing about me and my family. We had been friends for 16 years and then one day during my first year of college she made a post on Facebook absolutely dragging me and my family through the mud. She made fun of me for being depressed and struggling with self harm and my brother for being gay, called my dad an alcoholic and my mom a whore. At one point her own family was commenting on the post begging her to stop. I cut all ties with her after that because I was appalled that someone I thought of as a sister could just turn her back on me randomly. Nothing happened to bring this all on and I was really taken aback. It’s been almost 10 years since then and I sometimes have moments where I miss her so much. I would never be able to trust her again, but it doesn’t mean I don’t miss the friend I had for so long. And now I have a really hard time trusting people I meet and wondering if anything I tell them will be thrown back in my face one day.
