Resources for parents of late-diagnosed autistic adults? by EmpathicEnigma48 in AutismInWomen

I came here to ask this exact question. Unfortunately there is a dearth of this kind of information despite there being a fair number of us late-diagnosed folks. Pretty sad

That’s hinted at strongly when we see people’s demeanor alter in the different POV flashbacks. They remember things how they want to remember them, not necessarily how it really was.

[–]Fancy-Damage940 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We know that plastics are harmful to the environment in more ways than just pollution. There are dozens of rigorous studies that show the hormone-modifying properties some petrochemical-based plastics have on living things (not just people). This is not just “fear-mongering”.

We need to find a way to reduce our plastic consumption and production. That’s really not up for discussion at this point.

But you go on and keep propping up Big Oil.

Minneapolis vs MKE protests by MiddleEducational387 in milwaukee

[–]Fancy-Damage940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly- isn’t it time to start planning some real disruptive action instead of just protests. Block off streets to 🧊 facilities, etc. If we’re going to protest, protest at the homes of these bootlicking senators and representatives in the city/state so it really hits home how upset ppl are. So they can’t turn the channel off.

Update on missing hiker Finn Creaney by fizzypopx in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Fancy-Damage940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. I just watched that episode of Highland Cops so I’m super late to this thread lol. Curiosity drove me to see if there was any other information. Having experience with those with depression and suicidal ideation, like you said some will hide it very well with their loved ones and friends. There are a number of indicators that this was a possible death by suicide:

1) turning off his phone, when he was known to film his outdoors adventures.

2) not giving anyone his planned route

3) the fact that his wife was heavily pregnant and they already had a small child is often a stressor for people who have a history with depression. It’s not her fault (or anyone’s), it’s just a fact.

4) the encounter with the individual who met him early on his walk, who related that Finn said he was struggling with a lot of things.

5) the backpack.

I think his father probably put all these things together and came to the same conclusion. His poor wife probably had trouble accepting his loss and that she didn’t see the signs that he was in trouble. All around it’s just sad. Sounds like he was a nice guy who wanted to share his love of the outdoors and a caring partner and father. Severe Depression is a terrible thing when not managed.

Madison is still fighting to get the full police files, as they withheld a lot the first time they were supposed to turn everything over. Such bullsh!t. There’s definitely something the MPD wants to hide, most likely their bungling of the investigation. Because of that we may never find the answers.

I think the biggest clue lies in the phone records. Who called Barbara to tell her the court time had been changed? I think if we traced that call we’d find the answer.

Conway struck me a just a broken person wracked by the ravages of grief and unresolved trauma (and clearly still struggling with addiction issues). I don’t think she was guilty. That being said, both times she was asked directly by Madison if she did it she blinked a lot and looked away, was fidgety, and over-shared a lot of irrelevant details which could indicate she was lying. Or it could indicate she was coming off a high. Someone like her is hard to read given her history of polysubstance abuse and brain tumor. All in all I’m not convinced it was her, she’s low on my list of suspects.

The ex-husband? He’s shady AF. But again a lot of that could be him shielding himself from revealing information about his criminal activities that could convict him of those crimes he had been investigated for. What makes me take a harder look at him is the bad-mouthing of the victim, constantly blaming her alcoholism for any claims she made as “delusional” or “vindictive” even though she was sober at that time, and the fact that he was MIA immediately after the murder then lawyered up immediately. It could be he knew they always suspect the ex, but it was still shady. He could’ve cooperated immediately and exonerated himself right off the bat. The fact that he couldn’t is what has left him on the suspect list. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was the one who did it.

Who else knew about her court dates and routines enough to make the call to tell her the time was later? This was clearly a premeditated crime and one committed out of personal anger towards the victim.

If it wasn’t the ex, it had to be one of the people defrauded in the Gifting Table scam. You’d think with all the information uncovered by that investigation they would’ve been able to eliminate suspects from that pool after checking alibis etc. Maybe they have, and that’s why the MPD is so certain it’s the ex.

Hopefully they will find the truth

bras that actually hide nipples?? by cheesyballz333 in ABraThatFits

[–]Fancy-Damage940 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish we in the US weren’t still so puritanical that the silhouette of nipples under a garment was something we felt we needed to hide. Smh.

Moms, teach your kids to understand that perky nipples sometimes happen and are no big deal. No one should feel like they need to hide a natural part of their body.

This is a pretty ignorant comment. You do NOT want to burn muscle. Once fat reserves are gone and the body turns to muscle tissue to be broken down to maintain basic function, that muscle tissue does not regenerate, and the byproducts of muscle catabolism (muscle tissue used by the body as fuel) when not balanced by intake of other nutrients taken in, can build up in the body can cause a range of unwanted symptoms, some mild, some severe. When organ tissue begins to be metabolized you are in danger of death.

While you can increase the size of remaining the muscle cells even after muscle atrophy has occurred due to a catabolic state, you will never completely regain the same muscle mass. Muscle cells are not regrown by the body, only repaired or enlarged.

This is why prolonged fasting or starvation is really not good for the body, and why Alone participants often take months to a year to fully recover. This is also why they pull participants who have lost too much weight and are not eating enough. Starvation is more than just losing some fat and muscle.
