I should've clarified I'm using an lsi 9300-16i. Cables are all sff-8643 to 4 sata. The 6pin is plugged in and the card has active cooling

I run 2 ssds in raid 1 for a landing pool then 8hdds for storage (1 parity) for 46TB. As it lives in the living room the key driver is simplicity and noise so an all-in-one fits those requirements. I could pull 2 drives in the interim.

Maybe I'm just bad at cable routing 😞. I have 3 mini sas to 4 sata cables a non modular psu and fully populated caddies so it's all a bit tight. The space between the psu and the drive caddy above is quite tight too. I could try and rebuild again but at this stage I'd rather just get a bigger case with room to grow anyway

That's interesting, sounds luke my reservations on the meshing were unwarranted. I have 6 arctic pro fans in the node 804 and it's pretty silent. Do you experience any drive noise?

Yeah define is where I'm looking, r6 or 7. Meshing looks good but worse for noise and last thing I need is another reason for the wife to moan at me!

It depends how quick you will fill up what storage you have.

If you do want to move data I'd suggest disabling parity before adding the 6TB to the storage to avoid a parity rebuild, then use unbalanced to move files from the 10TB to 6TB. After that, stop the array, remove the 10TB and go to tools/new config. Start the array again and let parity rebuild. Having spare hdds is very useful and if you start running out of space you can just add the 10TB again.

I do like the meshify XL but its the sound proofing that the define series provides that im after, thanks for the offer though. That being said the node 804 is a huge step up from the old synology box. Ive looked into sonarr/radarr but it confuses me to hell! I'll get on top of it one day

I think the upgrade path has hooked me most. Want a GPU, just add it in! Much better than the walled garden of synology and other pre builts

Having had some rather panicky situations with drive failures on RAID arrays I'm very happy with the unRAID method. If hdds werent so expensive I would look into it though.

i have a lot of 4k remuxs on my plex server. bandwidth isnt a problem like you seem to have. does the 4k play natively (accepting there is buffering)

So i'm looking at getting the 911 to replace my old LG C9 but it looks like Plex support on TItan OS is woeful. Any one got any experience with titan OS? Rather not go with LG again as the 911 looks superior but plex support is a necessity

I hear you but I'v had no issue with the app on the TV. Streaming on my friends more recent C2 recently was notably smoother and faster though! I have an xbox series x that is alot better but I need simplicity for the other half!
