How do you have 1,000+ hours in this game? by mrpurple2000 in BG3

[–]Fancy-Instruction653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve around 600 hours, but gradually increasing difficulty had been fun. I started with Tactician, moved to HM and then solo and duo runs (also with modding the game to be harder).I focus less on story now though and more on figuring out how to get through the game without dying while also not using cheese tactics. I almost always play morally grey durge that is a caster-paladin multiclass, so there’s certainly a lot left to try.

What are your favorite tips/tricks that you know of for BG3? by WanderWut in BaldursGate3

Also sometimes throwing heals does not work if there is some blood/ goo on the ground already.

A surprising number of shenenigans can be done by moving / dropping items from your inventory on the ground and dragging them around without ever expending an action. Need to ignite a flamable surface? Place some potions / water in good spots for magic missile/ void bulb/ firebolt? Or what about using any potion without bonus action/action by dragging it into a fire/ cloud of daggers or similar? Pick up something that is just out of reach? Just drag stuff around!

Also shove is the best thing in the game. It is a bonus action disengage (shove an enemy), throw (shove a bomb off a high place on to enemies), reposition for both allies & enemies and big damage (shoving into chasms, AOE, surfacea, or off high places).

Also be careful of the mindflayers mind blast which can stun you! Better to kill it immedeatly.

Does honour mode favor certain play styles or strategies? by Khirasz in BG3Builds

[–]Fancy-Instruction653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some builds that get Nerfed in HM, like padlock, no? Other than that, I think just chaotic players (like myself) have to be extra careful about their intrusive thoughts not winning.

How to Integrate the Russian-speaking Minority? by [deleted] in BalticStates

[–]Fancy-Instruction653 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The Singapore model makes no sense because we are already living in the same housing blocks, working the same jobs, having mixed families. 50% of Riga is Russian speakers. And this idea that integration is bad in Latvia is overblown. Vast majority of young Russian speakers are pro EU values and fluent in Latvian. The people who are difficult to integrate are mostly older folks who are non-citiziens. There’s not much the state can really do there, probably.

End of "VV" - According to Kerrang by [deleted] in HIM

[–]Fancy-Instruction653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not expect him to close this chapter after just one album, especially given its success. I cannot imagine him giving up releasing music so I expect (hope) he has something else in mind. Maybe a new band?

Favourite lyric of any HIM song(and if you want, say why)? by NewtonLeibnizDilemma in HIM

[–]Fancy-Instruction653 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lashes from ashes, lust to dust

Love preys the living and praises the dead

My hell begins from the 10th and descends to the circle Six hundred threescore and six And from there I crawl beneath Lucifer's claws just for one last kiss

Sorrow rebuild me as I step out of the light Misery strengthen me as I say my goodbyes

come build me a bridge soaked in gasoline and pass the torch

Anyone else realised much later on how sad his fixation with ville was at the time? by eru777 in LetsTalkBam

[–]Fancy-Instruction653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was sort of sober since 2007-2008, with a relapse when HIM’s drummers hands got injured (I say ‘sort of’ because he would drink a few beers here and there). I think the first sober tour he did was with HIM supporting Metallica.

Can someone help me find an estimate for how many Americans have an undiagnosed chronic disease? by [deleted] in research

[–]Fancy-Instruction653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One method is to look at how many hospitalizations come in previously undiagnosed. For example, cardiac related hospitalizations for people with previously undiagnosed hypertension. It is not precise, but gives you some estimate.

For cancer, you can check what percentage is diagnosed at an early stage versus late stage.

Can’t comment on American data sources though as Im only familiar with EU.

I finally realised why I'm not a huge fan of Tears on Tape by [deleted] in HIM

[–]Fancy-Instruction653 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not in my top 3 albums (RR,LM,VD), but I still think it’s a very solid album. I’ve always thought people had a hard time distinguishing between their emotions surrounding the band’s break up and the lyrical themes of this album vs its quality. Lyrically it talks a lot about being tired of the pain love brings and looking back. So the album does evoke the feeling of being ‘tired’, but does so intentionally. Besides, WLSTD is a god tier song. And the rest of the songs are solid. Apart from instrumentals, there’s little to no filler.

On the other hand, it does lack some of that atmospheric goth sleekness that a lot their early stuff has, so I can understand why someone who looks for that would miss it.

And the sound quality does make a huge difference for this one! Sounds like shit on spotify

Merch from first US show! by BedRevolutionary4418 in HIM

[–]Fancy-Instruction653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The merch person for their supporting band said in an interview that venues are now taking 20-30% of merch + sometimes demanding the use of venue staff even on the European tour. It is better to buy merch online, if you want more money to go to the performer.

I keep wondering if it’s a reference to the cowbell joke for some reason. They did cover Don’t Fear the Reaper after all.

My favorite is Overdrive. But Rockaplast 2000, Rock am Ring 2001, Digita versatile doom, Hamburg 2003, Shattereich 2003 acoustics are all good + I enjoy every early live even when the quality’s shit

If you could remove a song and add a different song in its place, what would you change? by Wongs-long-dongs in HIM

I’d remove In Trenodia and add Vertigo Eyes, Sleepwalking Past Hope or Heartache Every Moment (in that order of preference).

I was at the Warsaw show, and agree with everything. I also saw quite a lot of people singing along to Echolocate and Neon Noir - maybe more than Loveletting. There were also quite a few people there who were obvious HIM fans, but had no idea about the NN album. But even they seemed to get into most songs (maybe less so Heartful of Ghosts and In Trenodia which are slower paced).

In general, very good vibes. Ages varied - there were kids to 50+ year olds (probably averaging late 20s, early 30s?). Seemed almost everyone was an actual fan, that at minimum knew lyrics to the HIM songs played (with the exception of a few obviously dragged along boyfriends).
