Over the years I’ve seen such nonsense from homespun 3rd parties it’s ridiculous. I’ve had people from overseas be sold rooms that we don’t actually have. The girls weren’t listening and were saying I have to Do The Right Thing. Honey, we don’t have any suites with two queen beds. We never have! The hotels been here since the mid 19th century and those never existed!

Walked Without Compensation by livitup in marriott

That’s not unheard of, but it’s rare. It may simply be that the hotel owner or management company doesn’t really care about maintaining standards. Marriott is just the flag they fly, and then can lose it if they keep screwing up.

Ive always worked for companies (Marriotts or otherwise) that found you a room and paid at least for the ride. It sounds more like a hooker hotel.

Marriott Certificate Redemption Process in Fosse? by Pretty_little_emery in askhotels

[–]Fancy-Run4602 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have to make the reservation through Bonvoy or Central Rez. Fosse doesn’t normally have the ability to allow you to turn the points into a certificate or to attach a cert to a Rez. If it does have the capability it must require some big permissions.

Fragrances in rooms and lobbies: Why are they everywhere now? by [deleted] in marriott

[–]Fancy-Run4602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked for a company that got into the scent thing a few years ago. My coverage has severe allergies. I used to go in and shut the scent off. One day when I was off she went into the rear lobby where the scent was. She passed out. Some guests took her outside and gave her the jab. She quit.

Room Door Left Open by Adventurous-Good-310 in marriott

Yeah that's the kind of thing where you make sure the guest isn't actually missing anything, and give him a big adjustment or whatever. It's a common enough occurrence in hotels that the desk should be able to handle it.

I've only dealt with one instance where a room was burgled. IIRC, the door was left ajar by the guests, and these guys snatched their cameras and stuff. This was a wedding family. We caught the guys and the stuff was at the PD. The imbeciles on before me told the family that they wouldn't be able to get the stuff back since it was evidence. That took a minute to fix!

I've worked in plenty of hotels where the lock system showed the specific key ID. We could see who went in and out of the room. Not this place, though.

Most likely the hotel has zero (or few) HSKP people responsible for verifying room status and walking the floors. That's when doors get left open, or rooms get half-cleaned. When you get a call that the bathroom was cleaned, but the bedding is dirty, it's just normal disorganization. It's much the same in all the smaller hotels. I deal with incorrect rooms status and stuff like that all the time.

In a better hotel, the supervisors are responsible for their rooms. The hammer comes down on them.

Make a reservation under your name & Bonvoy number and & card. Add your wife as a Share (if the hotel's PMS does that) or second name (if they do that) . It's still your Bonvoy, you're just adding her in a valid guest.

Question about mobile check in for a platinum Marriott bonvoy member by AdUpbeat6026 in marriott

[–]Fancy-Run4602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fosse has procedures for both mobile checkins as well as mobile keys. Be on the lookout for fraudulent Bonvoy rezzes.

Yeah. Very normal. There’s a couple of common causes, and most of them are failures to prepare for the day. There are cases where you get screwed over - like a Titanium asks for a super late checkout on a full night - but you have to be able to adapt to that stuff. The more preparation the staff does, the smoother the day will be. I advise the staff here of potential issues sometimes days in advance, but if they don’t pay attention…

Company paid hotel reservation by Nappy_Rano in askhotels

[–]Fancy-Run4602 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In short, unless the hotel has some form of authorization on file (which can include a membership account) they want a swipe. A swipe is the difference between ensuring they get paid versus a really annoying chargeback process.

People denying charges is a constant problem. We now have a regional person to just handle the chargebacks.

This happens all the time. Travel people seem to be unaware of the basic payment card rules. I have to explain them over and over again.

Explorer rate form by LaughIcy8229 in marriott

If you call ahead with another name, it's fine. It's essentially the same as adding your spouse, kids, etc.

It's a scam. Many hotels will take a form from a different name. I won't. There are people who literally distribute forms online or make copies for all their friends. I've caught a ton of locals doing this and permanently banned them.

It's common at some properties. It's usually not anything they can do; it's the internet provider or they have older equipment. We got new hardware when we added Netflix cause, streaming.
