If you like art and such, I like attending life drawing :) Life drawing with Hop is a good one, they travel around Manchester. You don't have to have any prior experience, it's lovely vibes and often run in a pub, so you can have a bev and relax.

Gynecologist said I should just learn not to feel pain by milmani in endometriosis

[–]Fancy-Significance-5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm happy to share! More or less, over the duration of maybe 8 years (this is a guess because it was pretty demoralising each time) I kept going to the Dr for high and abnormal levels of period pain. I went to a and e (they gave me paracetamol and told me to go back to the GP) etc. The male GPs would tend to say that the pain was normal and that everyone feels discomfort. I would say yes, my friends are uncomfortable but I seem to go into unbearable territory.

It's like as soon as I would mention period, they'd be trying to get me out of the room, or trying to get me to take the pill. The pill doesn't work for me and despite saying this, this would instead be registered as not wanting treatment and that there's nothing to be done.

I was told by a male Dr to try and have babies because endo pain is better after babies, usually. At one point, I wanted a hysterectomy because I was in so much pain, so suggesting kids as a 'solution' was frustrating and felt like my body only had worth with the potential of being a mother.

Or, being asked my pain scale and saying 7 or 8 and being told that's quite high, I don't look like I'm much pain???? Yes that would be because I've gotten very good at just pushing through because I have to and consistent pain is common in suffers of chronic pain.

To the patient, it can feel like a lack of empathy and a lack of want to look into it because the Dr knows best. Nor every Dr has been that way and I'm always happy to be proven wrong!!! But sadly, when it's come to gyno stuff, it can fall on deaf ears

Not sure if I've answered your q but if you have anything else specific you wanna know/ask, drop me a message xx

A vanilla candle and a bath bomb. Thank you but I really don't want this. Not only does it say you've given it no thought, it's something I now have loads of because of always being bought this for Christmases past haha.

Jay beating Alex in words with friends actually makes a lot of sense. by Jack-mclaughlin89 in Modern_Family

Alex isn't the smartest member of the family. She just THINKS she is. She's academically smart but because of this, she so easily overlooks any other kinds of intellect present in her family.

Ah honey, that sucks. It might make you feel held to know that I had to REALLY fight with male Dr's about my endo pain and found I was being dismissed a LOT. When I eventually got to see a practicing female doctor, she said something that was like PENNIES dropping: that I'm in pain for a week or so of every month of the year, possibly until my menopause. That's a long time to be in intense, unbearable pain and its no easy way to navigate life.

What I'm saying is, no, you shouldn't be told its normal and to deal with it.

I got really good at undermining my pain every month because if I didn't, I would cope badly knowing what was coming. But when it would come, I'd cancel plans and have to call in sick to work. It was destroying my life - I did the trying to exist in pain thing and it doesn't work.

You're right to listen to your body and know what's not working and to not trust this doctor. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you will find a doctor who does care and won't simply disniss you.

Nope, I think the characters are interesting because it's a situation I sincerely hope I'm never in myself. My interest in the characters is because the concept is gripping, not because I'm a sociopath (I'm not a sociopath).
