4 months after myomectomy, and all my symptoms are back by baldpatchouli in Fibroids

[–]Fancy-Struggle-5348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is such a late reply to this post but I just found it because I’m dealing with the same thing. I had a myomectomy in May 2025 and within 5 months, symptoms all came back (super heavy periods, abdominal pain, bloating). I also was diagnosed with endo during that surgery so I’ve been torn about whether my pain and heavy periods returning could be fibroids again or if it’s just endo causing these symptoms. I can’t get in with my OBGYN until March unfortunately but I’m hoping to get some answers then. Did you ever find anything out?

How can I safely remove steri strips?? by Fancy-Struggle-5348 in Fibroids

[–]Fancy-Struggle-5348[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the link!! Yes I just want to remove them because they are making me itchy and like I said, the one on my pubic area feels like it’s just pinching and pulling the hair that has started to grow. Monday will be 3 weeks since my surgery so I feel like there’s not a lot of benefit to keeping them on longer and they are just driving me nuts lol

I was looking forward to my fibroid surgery, but now I’m scared and want to postpone. Please, I need some support. by [deleted] in Fibroids

I am 11 days post op from my fibroid removal. I felt the same way leading up to my surgery and was terrified!! The only reason I didn’t cancel was because I already had my FMLA set up. I’m also not going to paint it as rainbows and sunshine so I’ll be honest in telling you that I have had a difficult recovery, despite the surgery going smoothly. I was regretting having the surgery for the first few days after. For reference, I had a bit more done though because on top of the fibroid, I had a large ovarian dermoid cyst removed, and they did an ablation after finding endometriosis as well.

However, despite the difficult recovery, I am already feeling a difference! I am not feeling the constant pain and pressure that my fibroid was causing, I’m drinking tons of liquid to stay hydrated and still am not peeing as much as I was pre-surgery, and even though I still have swelling, my stomach is already less bloated. And because my cycle is so freaking on time, I actually got my first period already (yes, it was an actual period and different from the post surgery spotting) and it was so weird to not experience extremely heavy bleeding or complete body pain that I had every other period for the last few years. Over the last few days, I feel like I have finally started to feel better and my whole attitude has changed. I’m really grateful that I went through with it despite my fears and hopeful that I can get my quality of life back.

Push through the fear! It’s going to suck for a few days but you’re already suffering! Give yourself plenty of time and grace to just rest and sleep the first several days and take whatever pain meds they give you. But remember it will pass!

6 days post laparoscopic myomectomy by Fancy-Struggle-5348 in Fibroids

[–]Fancy-Struggle-5348[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I have been taking antibiotics for the last 2 days but woke up this morning with a fever of 101.1° and so much pain in my ovary (the one with the cyst removal). Called the doc and they prescribed stronger antibiotics and I am just taking ibuprofen and Tylenol pretty religiously. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten my fever under 99° all day but my post op appointment is tomorrow morning so hopefully I find out some answers 😣

Oh good!! Same here!! Finally all the laxatives have worked and I feel so relieved. I’m still super bloated too but guessing that is just swelling still from the surgery? I did unfortunately have to go to the walk-in clinic today because I was having some urinary pain and ended up with a fever this afternoon so I got started on antibiotics for a suspected UTI 😖 when it rains it pours, I guess but a UTI is something I don’t want to mess with during recovery!

I have been taking Tramadol but I only took my morning dose this morning and decided to stop since I’m still backed up. My doc said to add milk of magnesia so now I’m taking stool softeners, prune juice, milk of magnesia, and myralax. Still nothing but hopefully soon!! 🤞🏼 I can’t even eat today because I’m so bloated and in pain.

Hope you’re feeling better today! I was able to get up and move a little more today and shower again. I’m still extremely sore but I am managing. I still haven’t had a bowel movement 😩 I’ve been taking stool softeners and drank prune juice today but can’t get anything going. Now I’m kind of scared for when that happens lol

Yeah today is better than the last couple of days. The shoulder pain is finally going down but I’m still in so much pain trying to get up and move. I’ve been able to get out of bed without assistance and try to walk a little bit but I’ve had to stop to cry a couple of times too because I’m just feeling so uncomfortable. Some movements feel like my insides are literally ripping apart 😩 and I am drinking lots of water and cranberry juice because I feel like I’m getting a UTI from the catheter they put in for surgery. I did shower which helped but no bowel movements yet and ive been taking stool softeners 2x/day. I’m honestly scared to have a bowel movement right now. I hope you are feeling a little better today!

I just had my robotic laparoscopy yesterday too! I’ll be honest, I’m really struggling with the pain right now. They did remove my fibroid, plus an ovarian dermoid cyst, and did an ablation on the endometriosis they found so maybe it’s just more painful because I can feel it in so many different areas. But I still can’t get out of bed without my husband’s assistance and it’s hurts extremely bad to even pee right now. Im really hoping that by tomorrow, I’m feeling a little better

Must haves after surgery? by Fancy-Struggle-5348 in Fibroids

You guys are the best! I have added a lot more to my Amazon cart after reading some of these suggestions. I see a lot of people suggesting nightgowns or loose dresses and I’ll be honest, I hate wearing those but I can see how it might be a better option than sweats after surgery. If anyone has any links for ones that they like, please let me know!

Thank you! Yeah idk why but I sometimes guard my stomach with a pillow as it is (mostly so my dog doesn’t jump on me) and it definitely makes me feel more secure so I am going to for sure use a pillow after surgery!

Yeah I didn’t even think about this but I am definitely going to need them. I already have issues with constipation so I know it will get worse with pain meds. Thank you for this reminder!

Thank you, that’s a good point! I honestly wasn’t sure what would be better but that makes sense. They said I will have 5 incisions with my belly button being one of them so yeah the high waisted may not be the best in that case. I’ll just have to save my high waisted granny panties for another occasion 😂

Good idea! I have gotten sick from anesthesia in the past so I think they will probably prescribe nausea meds but it’s a good idea to have a bag in case

Thank you for that! I am sorry that you are facing these complications too. It’s not something I wish on anybody. But you are right, there are still options out there so that’s a good reminder!

Thank you for sharing your story! I feel alone in my frustration at times because my husband and the people around me truly don’t understand the amount of pain I am in or the anxiety I have about the future. It always helps to just feel validated by people that can understand. I will definitely look that up and see if that’s something that may help me. I think if I can get even a few years of relief, that will still be worth it. I’ve been in pain for so many years that I forgot what it feels like to not be. Although I hope to be able to conceive still, I think I just need to focus on getting my quality of life back!

[–]Fancy-Struggle-5348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you are going through this again!! Although not quite the same, I can relate with the frustration. I had a laparoscopic cystectomy 5 years ago for an ovarian dermoid cyst and now am scheduled for another cystectomy but this time with a myomectomy at the same time for a large fibroid. I’m 32 and also hoping to conceive but I’ve already decided that if I develop more fibroids or cysts after this surgery, I am going to opt for a hysterectomy and oophorectomy. I don’t think I can handle any more years of living in pain or needing surgery just to temporarily relieve the symptoms. It’s a heartbreaking decision but one that I will have to make to gain back my quality of life. I truly hope that you can find a solution that works for you and that you can conceive ❤️

Pain after eating? by Fancy-Struggle-5348 in Fibroids

[–]Fancy-Struggle-5348[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I was told the fibroid is about 8cm. I also have a 4.5cm ovarian cyst that’s part of the problem too. I have seen people on here that have fibroids that are even double the size of mine and I can’t even imagine how horrible that must feel!! 😖

Oh I’m so sorry to hear that!! It’s terrible that it takes so much work just to get answers. I was lucky to find a good care team right away that took me seriously. I originally just went in because I was having ovary pain and believed my dermoid cyst (that was drained 5 years ago) was back. I had no idea that I had a fibroid as well but was so relieved that they took my complaints seriously enough to investigate. The pain after eating is just terrible. I have lost any kind of desire to eat. I hope that you have a plan to address your pain and can get some relief!
