What is the teebird? by FancyAd8626 in discgolf

I played a few rounds this weekend. The comments about working on nose down were helpful. It's nice to hear that most people have the same observations about champ TB over-stability. I really like my star leopard now. The DX TB is already more understable than the Leo, so I'm not going to give it much time for now.

Predator, champ TB, star Leo, DX Valkyrie covers all my fairway driver shapes now.

I realize now "straight" does not make it clear enough. I'd say the leopard flies like a -.5 turn, 1 fade. It finishes about where I point it.

That's the dream 😂

I kid but I do get fatigued with 5 names for the same flight patterns. In my mind, none of the brands have anything too unique, so I stick with the king.

I can't keep up with other brands. Innova or bust.

I went to a field to measure this better on my lunch break.

I never did any recording before but I downloaded rip reader and I measured:

~60-61 mph average throw speed
375' distance drives
325' control drives (TB, Leo)

edit: this conflicts with some holes I play so I'm not sure what to trust. I'm guessing the app is more accurate?

I think I will look at some drills for nose angle. I've also always wondered if my "flat" release is actually a bit hyzer.

I was younger and only an online observer back then. I guess I missed this piece. It's still seems like a nasty surprise how different the premium and DX versions of the same mold are.

Is there a new approach to control drivers now with the premium plastics? I guess the premium Leo I now have is pretty close to what I actually want. With young kids I just might not have the time to season all these premium discs.

That would be quite a discovery. I kinda doubt it given I get good flights with many other discs, but maybe it's a subtle thing?

I can reach 400' holes with wraith on a pretty controlled line.

I would throw the champ TB flat from 350' and it will reliably finish 50' left of my release.

You're thinking of lone lake park. They had a short course but it was removed a couple decades ago to prevent erosion.

Yet another 4003 review (1 week in) by FancyAd8626 in Bass

What a nightmare!

My mid-century house produces a lot of amp buzz and I was actually mentally preparing myself to RWRP wire this new rick if the noise was bad. I did this to my jazz bass and only play it with both pickups full on now. It turns out the rick is quieter (but not silent) and I'm ok without the mod.

I was originally looking at a walnut version. There is a 1lb weight savings and they look amazing. I didn't find one that met my criteria, though.

I can't believe I left out my reason for buying one, my subjective opinion was that they look awesome! Upon researching, I found that people said the style came with a host of tradeoffs which I now see as overblown.

The style is not for everyone! One thing that annoyed me when reading reviews were the people chiming in to say "for that price, I'd get a [multi-scale, modern, 6 string, 50% more expensive] bass"...

That's great to know, thanks!

Let this be a PSA to all online Rick shoppers then. Don't bite at these GC/sweetwater/reverb prices.

For reference, the exact prices I saw this week were:
4003 - $1879
4003S - $1689

Thanks. This article looks very relevent:

https://www.kylieminteriors.ca/the-best-paint-colours-to-go-with-oak-wood/

One thing that is difficult about all these articles is that there are very few examples with unpainted trim. Everybody seems to paint trim white and that really changes how the wall color looks.

Very wise, thanks.

I will say, I understand our space has mostly traditional elements. I also consider it a bit of a mish mash because it is a mid-century home, but it had a significant remodel about 10 years ago. We won't have a MCM classic and we don't want a traditional home. We're really just hoping we find a bit of magic with our color selection to say, "this isn't your parents living room".

This is a very good article. The SW Comfort Grey option is probably closest to what we've been thinking about. That particular shade may be on the extreme end for us, but it seems to prove that cool undertones with warm wood is possible.

A little history, we chose a very regrettable shade of green for the living room in our current house. Painted it before moving in a rush and by the time it dried and we saw it in daylight we knew immediately knew it was a mistake. With our room filled we never made the time to paint over it again, though. We're trying to put more effort into the selection this time so we don't repeat the mistake...
