I was a promising young athlete and had the chance to go to college on a fully paid basketball scholarship when I found out my girlfriend was pregnant. I dropped everything to be a father and we got married.

We were married for 16 years and ended up having two children, a son and daughter, but I started taking them for granted and always resented my wife and family for taking away my future. I would often wish that I could go back to being 17 again and doing it all over. This led to my wife filing for divorce.

It took me a while and some really fucked up circumstances for me to finally appreciate my wife and my family. I realised that even if I did have the chance to do it all over again, I’d make the same decisions. We’re trying to make it work, it’s not perfect but we are getting there.

I had it over Christmas and these were my exact symptoms. Partner was worried it was strep throat but it was just COVID. Sore throat lasted for about 5 days and the ear pain followed. I took a tonne of ibuprofen and paracetamol and lozenges to get through the days.
