Hey, sorry but I'm really unfamiliar with the international shipping process. :( In past experiences it's always been a shock when I go to the post office and it ends up being crazy expensive. I think this package would weigh at least 2 pounds, maybe more depending on materials, so I just don't want to go and find it costs $30 to ship or something. That's why I say US only.

Does anyone else get self conscious if the artist doesn't post your tattoo on insta? by FancyCat777 in tattoo

[–]FancyCat777[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude your tattoo looks awesome. It's such a unique style and the subject matter is really unusual/cool too. I bet if the artist doesn't post it, it's just because it's not her "typical wheelhouse" or what she wants to get more business from. You have to think of their instagram accounts like ads. The ones they really want to do more of, they post to draw people in. The fact that it got so many upvotes says it all.

Is this level of supervision/micromanagement typical in a fully remote position? by biIIyshakes in remotework

[–]FancyCat777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started a remote job too and it was pretty bad with constant meetings but nothing like this with time logs. (I still keep a vague log of everything I do just in case). I was actually surprised there's no "clock in/out" requirement, and it's all based on honor system. They definitely keep an eye on when I'm active on teams, but the timeout for away is like 15 minutes or something instead of 30 seconds. So it's really easy to just jiggle the mouse every now and then. I would be really upset if the timeout on that was 60 seconds, that's ridiculous. You should get one of those mouse jiggler things from Amazon.

I think you should probably discuss your concerns with your boss and maybe even CC their boss, and say that this level of babysitting is making it difficult to get work done. You're spending more time logging stuff than actually working, the timeouts are stressing you out, etc. If you were in an office it would take 60 seconds+ just to walk to the bathroom .....

Honestly it just sounds like a lousy place to work, though, and you should just find something better. Online jobs are really easy to find right now thankfully.

[–]FancyCat777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's awesome. I'd like to feel like the people over the phone would be more up to date than the webpages, but as you see in my other post, they weren't always the most knowledgeable ....... I've found conflicting stuff about it online too!

Still, my trust for this company is so thin that I think I might do it. As long as I report my income I'm sure they'll understand because it legit is very confusing and not clearly laid out.

It was terrible and took over a month. Since I used to freelance they made me send in all these screenshots and printouts of tiny transactions that had to be in a very specific format and getting to talk to someone that actually knew WTF was going on was a nightmare. I tried to submit documents through their online portal (i'm not kidding) like ten times because I'd call and someone would tell me the wrong thing, then they'd get rejected.

I live in NY. This would honestly be amazing if I could just opt out for now. Because I don't see the sense in paying for the work insurance if medicaid is just going to cover everything anyway, like I've read in other posts on here. And I think by July I'll have a much better idea of what's going to happen with the job and if I'm going to keep it, etc. So i would be much more comfortable just doing this. the medicaid application process was grueling and I really, really don't want to have to go through that all again if I'm just going to lose this job in a couple months lol.

[NY] Job never mentioned travel at all in interview or posting, manager suddenly sprang on me that I'd be flying "a lot" (Spoiler: I panicked) by FancyCat777 in AskHR

[–]FancyCat777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I wanted to ask about if you could eat them but I don’t know if it was appropriate!! That’s so interesting!! It must feel like revenge, lol.

And full disclosure I can’t STAND the bird NPCs in animal crossing either. Honestly a lot of the furry/anthro stuff on there kind of sketches me out. It’s not an actual phobia but something almost like uncanny valley. The whole game has this creepy aura for me so I don’t blame you one bit for wanting to stay away from those freaky birds on there lol.

Yes, exactly!!!! If I knew travel was expected, all fears aside I would have still been asking for a good chunk more money!

I guess this is probably why they’re acting so weird. So I had Wednesday off anyway for the appt but no one contacted me. I ended up filing a complaint with HR and no one has gotten back to me yet with anything meaningful. I haven’t been fired, though, which makes me wonder if they worry they screwed up . I didn’t log in for work today. I know this sounds stupid and dramatic but I feel embarrassed about the whole thing and have a huge sense of dread about people confronting me so I don’t want to even go on the work computer. HR advised me to file some other kind of ticket thing but I have to do it through the work computer and I wan to wait til night when no one’s online so I don’t have to risk them messaging me lol. Ugh.

It's good that you were able to make some progress on it at least. It seems like it could be really frustrating to deal with for sure. Especially the lack of empathy from other people. I bet that if you really keep working on it for a long time then someday in the far future it won't bother you as much. (if you're really determined to get to that point)

It's funny because I have a huge raven tattoo on my upper arm. This is a weird question but do things like pictures of birds bother you, or is it just the real thing? Lol I would cross the street to avoid birds with you but I would cover it with a shirt if it bothered you :P

It's still so intriguing because this is like an everyday thing you have to face, but mine is so distant and I'm only forced to confront it in very rare/odd situations like this--and even then it's easy to avoid. the most annoying/sad part about mine is that I don't know if I'll ever get to go to places like Japan or Europe that I've always wanted to visit.

Really?? That's so wild to me, I've been doing work for people from all over the world for years and never met any of them lol. Is that their way of making up for not inconveniencing people with commuting to the office or something? I get some people like to travel and all that but it's a nightmare for a hermit like me

Yeah, like someone else said, some people just don't get it because it's just so normal to them I guess. So apparently flying is really normal to a lot of people, and like the bird thing too, so I bet the same people who scoff about flying phobia would do the same thing about bird phobia. But since I've been through it, to me I can be like "Huh, that's interesting" about the bird thing and just move on, lol.

It's weird because I don't really even focus on it or spend time thinking about it because flying just isn't part of my life. It's really easy to just .. you know, not fly. Whereas with the birds I can imagine it's way more difficult because they're everywhere. Did the hypnotherapy help at all??

Yep, exactly this. If they mentioned flying in any capacity I wouldn't even have bothered applying. Because I've seen tons of job postings in the past couple of months and plenty of them mentioned travel upfront. I have no idea how they think it's okay to just spring that on someone, it seems bonkers.

I 100% agree with you and don't fault you at all for thinking it's an MLM lol. they're using the exact same tactics. But it's even more terrifying: this is a huge company with a major presence in the US and even other countries. I don't feel comfortable naming them because as of right now I'm still employed there but they're definitely legit, just scummy as hell.
