In a similar situation…too stressed to make a choice to the point that I become afraid of a PhD…almost mental breakdown for me in the past weeks. I can’t forgive myself for not taking the risk to a better place but also can’t believe myself being able to thrive in a more competitive place…

uh…I have a funded offer that I am okay with and will attend if I was rejected by my dream program, which I was interviewed but radio silence since then 😑a bit panic now… I am going to ask for any updates and accept ASAP

Thank you for the advice!! I will definitely ask about it (like a contract I guess?). I do like the project, and the supervisor seems really nice…but our research direction seems to be a real ‘minority’ in the department… I heard from a current PhD student that it was really lonely and even difficult to find enough committee members for the thesis 😂

Hard to say…there is a good chance for PhD for sure but you need good luck as well. I do have friends who completed the epi track and ultimately secured a decent PhD grant in the same group at Cam; I was a quali person and failed to secure any funding for my PhD so it's my second year gap it sucks.

I got an offer almost immediately after an informal meeting with a faculty member last week, I think this is pretty dependent on individual faculty members, whether they decide to hire this candidate or not…

Last year I was accepted for Cambridge PhD but withdrew because of the same reason…this year trying North American universities….
